We have learned alot from looking things up for this thread.
CJD may know where he is buried.
I believe it said he was born in Bucharest and emigrated to NY when he was young.

That was a great answer OdKahaneChai. That was a interesting question bullcat jr. You both surprised me. I thought only old dogs like me remembered Courageous Cat ;D. I loved it as a kid. Edward G. Robinson was one of my most favorite actors he was great. He was born on December 12,1893. I just learned that we both share the same birthday except he would be slightly older than I am if he were still alive. He was born in Bucharest. He died on January 26,1973. He is buried in Beth-El Cemetery in Ridgewood, Queens, New York. I may try to visit the spot one day now that I see its N.Y.C

It helps BullCat jr. to learn.  She will read this tomorrow.

I thought of CJD because I know he is some where in NY.
CJD gave the right answer - as you know  ;)  He was burried in Ridgewood, Queens, NY

By doing this we are learning so many great things.
I'm going to do a little more reading on Edward G. Robinson.

Was there a cartoon character in the Bugs Bunny Cartoons based on him too?
I seem to remember one in the back of my mind.

Rocky and Mugsy.

Rocky based on Edward G. Robinson and the other character based on Peter Lorre.  
Peter Lorre was also born into a Jewish family.  
I think he was a great character actor.  I loved watching him in movies when I was a little girl.
It is so hard to find those movies played on TV today - but they were on all the time when I was small.

Mugsy based on Peter Lorre is a bit of a stretch, I think.  Now the mad scientist in "Hair-Raising Rabbit"...

In the 50s and 60s adults would see those cartoons and recognise the charicatures of actors or other personalities.

It was the opposite for me. I grew up watching those cartoons and when I got older I started watching old movies.

I'd see Edward G Robinson and say..."That's the Frog!" or James Cagney and say."That's Jerry Mouse's tough cousin Max". :::D

I knew it was Emma Lazarus however I did not know she was Jewish. That is a interesting surprise. When I went to grade school they had us learn the poem and we had to be able to recite it in front of the class. Thats an interesting fact you posted bullcat jr.

Well its true I am an old bird BullcatJr. I was born when Eisenhower was president and thats a very long time ago. I have never really watched the Jakers cartoon but I have seen parts of it. I think Wiley the sheep's voice is that of Mel Brooks. Mel Brooks grew up a poor kid and became a very famous actor with loads of money. He was talking about his childhood on the radio the other day and it was unbelievable how poor he started out. I have to try and watch a few episodes of that cartoon it looks really interesting.
