Interesting Idea to boost JTF's income.
« on: March 03, 2008, 02:32:54 AM »
I am a member of a famous mobile electronics forum that lists all the people who have contributed financially by screename as a means of getting people to contribute. I was wondering what people thought of this idea. The money that Chaim collects goes to feed starving and tortured children in Yesha so I believe that any method to get Chaim funds needs to be pursued. I was wondering what people thought?

I have never been on Stormffront's site so that is new to me. Whatever we do here, it's for a righteous cause.

Yes  that is true, but doesn't mean we can't borrow their ideas, which their ideas are bringing in thousands of dollars a year  ;)

Yes, evil people always have an easier time raising money than the righteous ones. Look at  the ADL, Bnail Brith, Peace Now, Gush Shalom, Ajc, Uja and all the other kike organizations. They raise more money in one minute than jtf raises in a whole year. It's sad but the same thing happened to Rabbi Kahane.

The BBYO actively encourages being Mechalel Shabbos.

Interesting idea. I will ask Chaim what he thinks. I would want to be careful though. Here's a story to illustrated my point:

In Parashat Vayakhel, the Torah equates the talents of Betzalel who was of esteemed descent, with Ohaliav, who was from the lowest of the tribes. This encouraged the poorer members of the community, who could not afford to make large donations, that their contribution was as meaningful to Hashem as that of a rich man. It doesn’t matter how much you give, it matters how much is left in the bank.

And, please... no more talk of that evil nazi web site SF!! We have no desire at all to copy evil, sick nazis and it reflects VERY BADLY on the forum to bring up such an evil site. I am shocked that any member would even look at such evil and disease... much less use it as some sort of "baseline" to copy, G-d forbid! Why would any member contaminate their soul with such disgusting evil? I am warning now to stop mentioning this abomination (unless it is destroyed or wipe off the internet) that wishes to murder innocent Jews and destroy the beautiful Torah that Hashem gave to us!

The Torah commands us to be humble and give tzduka without expecting reward. While this idea might result in more funds for JTF, I don't know if it is the type of fund-raising that hashem approves of.
One example of fund-raising which I find distracting are the lights that are placed in Bait Knessim during services. This is something that kids play with even though they are not supposed to turn lights on and off on Shabbat.
Does it bother you that you have to face the dome and the rock to say the sh'ma?

Everybody that has contributed to JTF will have it marked on their screen name.. it can encourage non-contributers to contribute.
