Converted ex-Priest turned Rabbi
« on: March 26, 2008, 06:10:55 PM »

This guy is amazing. I didn't listin to this lecture yet, but I did see him before when he came to Yeshiva Ohel Simcha and taught a few of us (one time). He also said a little of his life story, he used to be a priest (from priestly family) in south America, now he lives in Israel learning Torah.
Their are also some new lectures I saw put up on Torahanytime.com now.
The Academy of Elijah taught, whoever studies the laws (of the Torah) every day, (he) is guaranteed to have a share in the World to Come.

‏119:139 צִמְּתַתְנִי קִנְאָתִי כִּישָׁכְחוּ דְבָרֶיךָ צָרָי
My zeal incenses me, for my adversaries have forgotten Your words.
‏119:141 צָעִיר אָנֹכִי וְנִבְזֶה פִּקֻּדֶיךָ, לֹא שָׁכָחְתִּי.
I am young and despised; I have not forgotten Your precepts.

" A fool does not realize, and an unwise person does not understand this (i.e. the following:) When the wicked bloom like grass, and the evildoers blossom (i.e. when they seem extremly successful), it is to destroy them forever (i.e. they are rewarded for their few good deeds in this World, and they will have no portion in the World to Come!)

With this priest's conversion to Judaism, he has proven two things:

He is not only a Jew, but he's also a meshugenah!   :::D

What it shows is that he is willing to seek the truth but also stands up to his convictions.
Does it bother you that you have to face the dome and the rock to say the sh'ma?

No, what Massuh means is that anybody crazy enough to want to become a Jewish convert, considering all the "diminished opportunities" and "social rejections" which are sure to inevitably follow, when as a non-Jew they are subject to none of these problems, ... that person is a bona fide meshugenah!

And MassuhD means every word of it, and he means it humorously.

Is the opinion among the ranks of the members here that a converted Orthodox Jew is equal to any other Jew, given that they converted on their own and were not proselytized to?

Obviously...

One does not deal with terrorists; one does not bargain with terrorists; one kills terrorists.

Rabbi Mizrahi in his latest video online (purim) talks a little about this Rabbi how he ended up in a religious community by chance coming from the airport and being lost. (I also heard about him before, but those who dont know might get a little from here). He has 10 brothers who also converted afterwards.

Mills, many people who are born Jewish are atheistic at this point too, don't follow Jewish laws, and even intermarry.  So my point is that its not as if the people who are born Jewish are being particularly observant
