The Name of G-d is meant to be being constantly mentioned and praised by the Jewish People: "This people I have created for Me that they should relate My praise" (Yeshaya 43).
It is therefore a shame that IDF Chief of Staff Gabbi Ashkenazi should fail to mention or invoke
Hashem Elokim Elokei Yisrael at least
once in his otherwise reasonable speech
http://www.israelnationalnews.com/News/News.aspx/126036at Auschwitz, or to quote at least one Tenach verse. It would have made a big impression on Jews and Gentiles, and in Heaven.
The fact that Ashkenazi, like most Israeli professional soldiers, was raised as an out and out chilloni, and probably knows, believes and observes
nothing about Judaism, like his Ramatkal predecssors, does not bode well for the future, despite his confident prognostications!
His concern about Arab lives, his willingness to cede the Golan, and his Bulgarian-Syrian antecedents also don't inspire too much confidence, although Golani soldiers who served under him, swear by him

Woe on us for the delay of the Warrior Moshiach, Moshiach ben Yosef!
