Passed with tobacco not far from the Hillocks Chaumont, Saturday evening, the young man is between the life and death. Its family and the Jewish institutions denounce “an anti-Jewish action”.
The violent aggression of a Jewish young man, Saturday evening in Paris, caused Sunday a thunder of indignation in the Jewish community, as in the Elysium and the government.
The 17 year old boy was passed to tobacco on the public highway Saturday around 8 p.m. not far from Hillock-Chaumont, in the XIXe district.
According to the National office of vigilance against anti-semitism (BNVCA), the young man “was attacked with iron changes of course” by a group from “6 or 7” young people.
Five minors originating in this district and the Seine-Saint-Denis were challenged and placed as a police custody. The investigation was entrusted to Usit (Unit of support and territorial investigation) of the urban police force of proximity.
According to the Assistance-public-Hospital of Paris (AP-HP), the state of the victim is “stationary” and the forecast “is reserved”.
For his/her father, questioned by RTL, the young man was attacked “because it carried a kippa and that it is Jewish”. In the same way, for the UEJF and CRIF, the anti-Jewish character of this aggression is not any doubt. “The 17 year old young man who was wildly attacked this night and which is currently in the coma, carried a kippa and there is no doubt that it is about an anti-Jewish action”, declared Ariel Goldmann, vice-president of CRIF.
By the voice of its president, Raphaël Haddad, the UEJF is said “very worried” by the brawls to repetition these last weeks between organized bands, in particular with the park of the Chaumont Hillocks. The socialist mayor of the XIXe district of Paris, Roger Madec, asked for besides the deployment of additional manpower of police force in his sector in order to alleviate the intercommunity tensions which he considers strong.
Strong intercommunity tensions
Without explicitly in the immediate future confirming the assumption of an anti-Jewish action, Nicolas Sarkozy “makes a point of expressing his deep indignation”, in an official statement. The French president is waited Sunday afternoon in Israel where it pays a visit of State in “friend” posted of the Hebrew State. The relations free-Israelis were often tended in the past, the Hebrew State having in particular several times denounced a climate of “anti-semitism” in France.
In the same way, the Minister of Interior Department Michele Al announces “his deep emotion”, following this “violent aggression”, in an official statement. It also expresses “its solidarity and its support for the victim, her family and the whole of the Jewish community”, while reaffirming “its determination to fight without slackening against all the demonstrations of racism, anti-semitism and xenophobia, which ridicule the values of the Republic”.
Bertrand Delanoë, mayor PS of Paris, learns “with consternation” this “wretched aggression” and condemns “with most total firmness these unbearable facts” and ensures “the young victim like his close relations of (his) greater solidarity”. It wishes “that the exact conditions in which this aggression was made are established as soon as possible and which its authors are sanctioned with the measurement of their intrigues”, fact knowledge the socialist municipal official, in an official statement.
