I honestly think he has a chance to win the nomination. The 2008 election will contain many surprises. The GOP voting base is PISSED off at the "establishment" Republicans (like Bush,McCain,Guiliani) and anything can happen....
The first time I heard of Tancredo was when he gave a speech on immigration reform and the dissolution of American culture on CSPAN back in the early 2000s. At the time, there was nobody in the room and he was speaking to an empty Congress. But he just kept talking anyway...even though nobody was listening. I thought to myself, "Wow, this guy is the lone ranger of immigration reform."
