also though.. I reckon explaining a position to the public , debating it, is not necessarily what shows whether a leader is great or not.
e.g. suppose they ask the candidate a questoin that they shouldn't know.. Then it's just testing their ability to BS if they don't know. Or show off pointlessly if they do.
Or suppose the question is flawed in some way, and a truthful answer would make them look weak.. And attacking the question would make them look arrogant.
And american presidents are all about personality anyway.. People around them do the analysing. They are just the public persona, because the public can't relate well to boffins
