Why did they choose McCain?
« on: November 10, 2008, 12:14:08 AM »
I really don't understand how McCain could have been chosen as the republican nominee.  I've been listening to speeches from the last year, and it is surprising how much McCain was despised by his own party.  Romney, Thompson, Guilliani, were all more popular than McCain.  I must have missed something.  I remember that Guilliani blew it by not campaigning properly.  Thompson seemed half-dead most of the time.  Huckabee frightened some people because he was too religious.  And Romney worried people because he is a Mormon.  But despite all of this, McCain was really hated--the republicans mostly saw him as a traitor after the immigration bill.  So, how did McCain actually win the support of his party?

By the way, I think any of the other candidates could have beet Obama.
