'Thanks to members of the Netherlands branch of 'Christians for Israel

Last week, the Golan Residents Committee greeted a 5-member delegation of 'Christians for Israel' who came from Holland, as they do every year, with a colorful gift. The visitors came with 20,000 red and white tulips bulbs and a massage of love to the people of the Golan.

Mrs. Henrietta Heuvelman-Beelaerts van Blokland, the secretary of the Dutch Board, admits that "from all the places in Israel, the Golan captures our hearts and excites us each year even more".

The Golan Tulip Day started at 'Mitzpe Golan' school in Benei-Yehuda as 1st and 2nd grade students welcomed the visitors with a song and a flute recital. "You are God chosen people" the guests told the kids, "Let the tulips blossom be a reminder of us, your friends in the Netherlands, who love you and pray for you".

In Moshav Avnei Eitan it was time to become gardeners. Both visitors and pre-school children planted tulip bulbs next to the playground of the new kindergarten.

The next stop was at Ramat Magshimim, the first religious moshav established on the Golan in the summer of 1968. The delegation entered the synagogue, which was devastated by Syrians soldiers during the Yom Kippur War of 1973.

Together with Yoni Nagar they drove along the Syrian border on a newly reopened section of road # 98. At Raziel Pool named after Yoni's son who was killed hiking in a nearby IDF training field, they learned about the togetherness of the Golan community.

In Qatzrin, the capital of the Golan Heights, they entered Offek after-school child care facility, in which children from broken homes, age 5-12, have lunch, do homework, participate in extra-curriculum classes, and play until 8 pm. The children's welcomed the guests with a special performance of music and computer know-how.

Mrs. Heuvelman-Beelaerts van Blokland sum up was short and to the point: "Your love and commitment to the Golan is catching. No wonder each year I feel more enthusiastic about the Golan".
