Another type of denial
« on: December 28, 2008, 03:39:01 PM »
I've written about holocaust denial and I've also written about the 9/11 "truth movement", which denies the real events of the September 11 terrorist attacks.  The purpose of both denials is to wash away the guilt of the perpetrators, thus paving the way for a repetition of these events.

I've now been hearing about another denial which has become very pervasive among the arab world and the academic Left.  This is Temple denial.  They claim that Solomon's temple did not exist!  This is different from the other two denials, in that Temple denial is not espoused for the sake of repeating a catastrophic event, like the holocaust or the 9/11 attacks.  The purpose of Temple denial is to refute the Jewish claim to the land of Israel.

It is alarming how much currency this false and obscene claim has gained in public discourse.  I expect it won't be too long before we hear of self-hating Jews espousing this claim.
