Israel launches fresh airstrikes on Gaza, marking the ninth day of continued bombardment of the strip which has so far killed 470 Palestinians. Israeli warplanes flew over the Hamas-held region early on Sunday morning, dropping bombs on the Gazans and lighting up the sky hours before sunrise.
Tel Aviv extended its attack on Saturday, moving its tanks and troops into the Gaza Strip, despite international calls against the move.
The latest attack came only hours after Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak vowed that the campaign against the Palestinians "won't be short."
Israel launched an all-out attack on the coastal sliver on December 27 with the motto of 'self defense' against Palestinians' retaliatory fire; however, it later on said that the main objective of the onslaught is to remove the democratically-elected government of Hamas.
During nine days of non-stop fire, 470 Palestinians have been killed and 2,750 others have been injured. This is while Hamas fighters have only targeted Israeli service-members taking down some 11 soldiers and wounding about 41 others.
Meanwhile, protestors around the world have taken to streets condemning the Israeli atrocities in the Gaza Strip chanting slogans like "Shame on Israel" and "Shame on America."
The US State Department on Saturday warned Tel Aviv that its military adventurism must be 'mindful of the potential consequences to civilians'.
Human rights groups have described the situation in Gaza as one of the worst humanitarian crises in the history, as Israeli authorities - for a second day - denied entry to a Red Cross medical team to Gaza to help treat residents injured in bombings on Saturday.
