The Obama Administration is so desperate for Japanese and Chinese investment funds because they probably sense the stimulus may be a failure.  Hillary even broke with diplomatic protocol and met with the Japanese opposition party hoping to get some loyalty and money from them.  Japan came back with a "We're broke" story that they announced to th media. They said they had the biggest dropoff in 35 years.      Pretty smart way of doing this though.

WASHINGTON - Secretary of State Clinton's plan to meet in Tokyo with an opposition leader caused a political stir in Japan yesterday in the midst of a ruling party scandal over an allegedly tipsy finance minister.

Breaking with protocol, Clinton said that Ichiro Ozawa, head of the opposition Democratic Party of Japan, would be included in a round of meetings Tuesday beginning with Prime Minister Taro Aso of the Liberal Democratic Party.

Ozawa was among those calling for the resignation of Finance Minister Shoichi Nakagawa, who slurred his words and appeared to nod off at a Rome economic summit over the weekend attended by Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner.

As video of his behavior played endlessly on Japanese TV, Nakagawa admitted to having some wine but denied "heavy drinking." He said he hadn't been feeling well and may have taken too much cold medicine, according to Kyodo News.

Clinton picked Japan as the first stop on her debut overseas trip to the Far East to shore up Japan's posture as the top U.S. ally in the region.

Clinton will also be traveling on hereight-day tour to Indonesia, South Korea and China, where she plans a town hall meeting in Beijing that could be troubling to her hosts.

Clinton has warned North Korea against any "provocative action" during her trip, but Pyongyang appeared to be making preparations for a test launch of a long-range missile.

In Tokyo, the Clinton-Ozawa meeting was expected to boost the opposition in elections later this year against Aso, who has approval ratings in the teens.

The Nakagawa incident complicated the ruling party's problems.

WTF is it with the nerve of these filthy arrogant liberalschmucks?  Sodom Clinton breaking with diplomatic protocol and inviting the opposition to a meeting?  You Don't do that.  Needless to say that will not be well received in Japan.

Speaking of Japan, during the 90s the US was VERY generous with their ADVICE/DEMANDS that Japan let their failing "zombie" banks FAIL, and that government intervention and "propping up" of failure will not be healthy for the economy.  (Not to mention will affect the US economy as the markets are interconnected.)

Now, with the US economy in a similar situation, is the US taking it's own medicine?  or are they attempting to do precisely what they told Japan Not to do?  Is Japan giving the US unsolicited advice?

The best course of action for the US is to lower taxes, and stay out of it.  get out of the way!

I think the world is seeing the US for what it is, a weaker, less educated, less moral country with a soon to be majority third world population.  You only would invest in the US unless you get some really good assets or want to see yourself lose money over the long run.  China and India seem to have only been hurt by their connection to the US but their manufacturing, sales numbers and economic strength have not been really affected.  Japan and South Korea have been hit pretty badly but China and India just hit a speed bump!

I agree.  The US can lie to itself all it wants, and live in a politically-correct-alternate-universe and not realize what a 3rd world country it is, but I agree with you, the world sees the US for what it is, as you just said.

Japan has seen this for a while now.
For example, when an American gets ready to travel to Tanzania, for example, he will have to prepare himself for malaria, unsanitary conditions, crime, etc, etc.  The state department has warnings/travel advisories.

The same is the case, and has been the case, for Japanese tourists traveling to the US.  They are forewarned about the 3rd world conditions the US is in, particularly with regards to rampant crime.
