Just days after three U.S. Congressmen visited Hamas-controlled Gaza, and a day after the U.S. pledged a “substantial” sum of money in assistance to Gaza, President Shimon Peres warns the European Union against showing “understanding” for Hamas.

Peres met on Tuesday morning with the President of the European Parliament, Hans-Gert Pöttering and had some harsh words to say about Hamas – and about those who deal with Hamas.  Pöttering, leading a delegation of European parliamentarians, had earlier visited both Hamas-ruled Gaza and Sderot, but concentrated on his visit to the former.

“Europe is interested in helping the Palestinian population,” Pöttering said. “Europe wants to see practical steps in the field, confidence building gestures, and we turn to you as a man of peace to advance this process.”

Peres: Hamas is a Terror Organization

Peres responded clearly: “Hamas is a murderous terrorist organization that takes advantage of its poor countrymen as human shields for its own advancement…  Unfortunately, the world, led by Europe, does not recognize and are not exposed to the true situation – namely, that Hamas is a terrorist organization that works with violence, with no logic and no compassion towards its own people, and [all] in the service of Iran.”

Understanding Hamas Doesn't Help

“Europe and the international community, by expressing understanding for the situation in Gaza and for the terrorist acts of Hamas, are not helping improve the situation,” President Peres said. “They are rather misleading the Palestinians, thus gravely harming the chances for peace and strengthening the moderates.”

“Israel is fighting and will fight a no-holds-barred against terrorism,” Peres said, “though at the same time it does not prevent and will not prevent the flow of food and medicine into the Gaza Strip.”

Peres said that the delivery of food and medicines into Gaza is proceeding uninterruptedly, “the only problem being the wild and hostile takeover by Hamas of some of the deliveries for its own personal benefit.”

President Peres reminded his guest that in the past, Europe helped to rein in Palestinian terrorism when its leaders expressed public criticism of Yasser Arafat.  “Today as well,” Peres said, “European intervention of this nature is necessary for those who truly want to bring peace.”

The U.S., Too?

Peres did not mention the United States by name, but it is likely that he had in mind recent Congressional visits to Gaza by two U.S. Representatives and Senator John Kerry, the Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.  The two Representatives took an overtly anti-Israel tone, with one of them saying that Israel had “apparently willfully destroyed any capacity of the Palestinians to rebuild their own infrastructure.”   

Sen. Kerry, for his part, was handed a letter for U.S. President Obama, and delivered it to the Jerusalem Consulate.  He was apparently not aware that it was from a top Hamas official.  A State Department spokesman said he did not know if Obama would read it or not.  The U.S. does not have diplomatic ties with Hamas, which it defines as a terrorist organization.

In other U.S.-Hamas news, it was announced on Monday that Secretary of State Hillary Clinton would pledge a “substantial” amount of aid for Gaza and the Palestinian Authority at a donors’ meeting in Egypt next week.  The conference is to take place in Sharm el-Sheikh, in the Sinai, on March 2.  “The United States will announce a substantial pledge of humanitarian assistance and support for the Palestinian Authority,” an official said, noting that it will amount to hundreds of millions of dollars.

Peres warns, Wilders warns, Bush warned, Cheney warned, and even crazy Biden warned; and still no one listens.  All the liberal kooks want to close down Gitmo, give monetary aid to the Palestinians, sit down and have a cup of tea with Iran, and walk around with blinders on in regards to what Radical Islam is capable of.

I have said it before and I will say it again; when and only when some terrible act will be committed personally against one of these crazy liberal kooks, then, and only then they might begin to understand what Radical Islam is and what it is capable of.

I am sure that it is true, but in this case the most pressing issue is that America is rapidly becoming no different from Germany or France in the level of its Jew-hatred. As always, Chaim was proven completely correct. He predicted that Obama would do a ton to legitimize anti-Semitism and we are seeing it already with him in office barely a month.

Good points C.F. America is now expirencing the same cultural-socialist revolution western Europe had around 1968. Before 1967 the greatest ally of Israel was France of De Gual not USA. Peres is just trying to maintain the vestiges of Labour camuflage as Israeli/Jewish party. CF, you are proving to be more right with this.  America has a 70%+ pro Israel stance in polls but that was a couple years ago.  America's growing third world majority, coupled with a declining morality is going to lead to a more anti-semitic nation.  Add the worsening and anti Western education system (graduate students knowing less than HS students from 100 years ago) Americans will then find Islam attractive and Alex Jones conspiracy garbage attractive. 

America is not majority antisemitic but it is changing for sure for the worse.

the fact that Peres is the conservative here in this story is scary.  I just saw an interview with a Pakistani official on "Viewpoint" that said there could be no real progress against terrorism unless the US changes to a more favorable approach to "The Palestinians, Chechnya and Kashmir."  You know they will try to make Obama's troop surge in Afghanistan difficult so they can be sure he in turn throws Israel under the bus. Obama is scared to take any stand because he's copying Bill Clinton's approach (even though we know he's a rabid anti Semite) and this worries some of the Muzzies.  They know he's weak and will play the Muslim corrupt game of "you want to beat the Taliban, just give half of Israel to the Arabs. You want our oil, just throw India under the bus in regards to Kashmir and Pakistan."  Obama is fooling most of the USA into thinking he's a moderate when he is trying not to be seen as this or that so he can get to his real evil plans.

The main reason Obama wants the economic turmoil to be over is to have the majority of Americans on his side.  All the rich billionaires and companies are going to do everything they can to prop up the economy.  Example with Microsoft announcing they will train 2 million Americans in tech.  Where was this program 2 or 3 years ago?   Anyways, if Obama can show he is America's great saviour and they buy it, he then will launch his real agenda.  That will be Israeli land surrender, black giveaways, massive third world immigration, destruction of southern, conservative owned and rural companies, and finally a pro Muslim nation.  If America thinks Obama gave them a raise, they may let him do anything he wants!

That is why he must fail and America's economy must fail because if it does well, Israel and America in the long term are really doomed.

And to cripple both countries; but I don't think Chinese will give him more credit and Muslims value Russia more as ally than foe. Russians killed off 200-300 thousends Chechen muslims separatists and nobody in both Rijad nor Teheran give a damn. Israel is of course hated becouse it's suposed to be Jewish but partly becouse it's so lenient on it's Arab/muslim enemies. They only respect strenght and ruthlesness.
