NEW DEAL or RAW DEAL: An Expose on FDR's economic legacy
« on: February 22, 2009, 11:17:05 PM »
One of the most misleading and enduring myths of America's 20th century is the assertion that the economic policies of the New Deal pulled America out of the Great Depression. It is becoming even more critical due to the fact that the Democratic political establishment is calling for a "new" New Deal for our current economic troubles. Burton Folsom Jr.'s book New Deal or Raw Deal? How FDR's Economic Legacy Has Damaged America  exposes that the dogoodery of the New Deal actually caused more human suffering and deprivation in America than the free markests ever could.

As a student of history, the only flaw I can find with this book is that it did not come out sooner! It is unfortunate that most Americans do not know or comprehend their history well enough, and it seems the next few years may be more catastrophic than the 1930's.

The American Republic will endure, until politicians realize they can bribe the people with their own money. – Alexis de Tocqueville

Communism is like prohibition, it's a good idea but it won't work. - Will Rogers

The problem is that the Dems and the Media have SO MUCH riding on FDR being a hero and 'guiding us out' of the great depression that they have completely revised history and ignored something very obvious.

That the world bottomed out in 1933 when he took office... and in 1937 (after he started his second term) his New Deal policies started to affect us by pushing the US BACK into a second depression which we stayed in till we entered WWII.  Nearly every other country was out of the depression by 1936.
