Why is it important to the Israeli gov't that the arabs recognize Israel as a Jewish state? To me all that matters are for jews to recognize Israel as a jewish state.

Because as long as they deny it they will continue to fight against us, lob rockets into our communities, and lie to the world about the Jewish history of the Holy Land. These Arab nations must accept Israel as THE JEWISH STATE much like Saudi Arabia and Iran demand the world consider them islamic republics.

Its much simpler than this.  Muslims will NEVER except Israel as Jewish... just as they wont accept India as Hindu or Thailand as Buddhist or The Philippines as Christian because they only see them as their Koran tells them to see them... as the House of War.

This is all a moot point... since we know Muslims are incapable of accepting other nations as being anything other than Islamic.

Good question.  My question would be why does Israel give a darn what the arabs think as long as they (arabs) behave (won't happen) and give Israel what is rightfully hers, which is a lot more land.  On second thought why does Israel give a darn what the U.S. thinks, especially now?  There was a time when it mattered.

Apparently many "jews" in the U.S. could not care less what happens to Israel, to them Israel is nothing but a worldly zionist state.  Very sad.

Sanctity of Jewish State absolutely may not be comparable to Saudi Arabia and Iran.

Even if only few righteous Jews think that it is a Jewish State, then it is a Jewish State. No more approval from any Arabs or any mundane authority is required in this matter. Those who do not approve it may automatically by the will of G_d shall be in peril and perished.
