It is about control. It is about socialism. It is about Marxist/Communism. It is about ending the middle class in America (part of a many pronged plan that is marching rapidly to victory).
But to say that goes above the facts in this bill that will stop it cold if we can get these facts OUT to the public.

The arguments against universal health care:
1. It will cost too damn much, a lot more than the projected costs offered by government bureaucratic flunkies.
2. Health care will be rationed.
3. No incentives for doctors of all kinds to become doctors or to stay in the medical profession because salaries will be capped.
4. Enormous taxes for everybody in order to pay for universal health care.
5. Patients will wait months and years for care. This will especially hurt the elderly the most. The elderly will die waiting for care.
6. No guarantee illegal aliens will not be recipients of health care that American taxpayers (you and me) will pay through the nose for.
7. Government bureaucrats will determine who will receive care and who wont.
8. Health care will no longer be determined by doctors and their patients but be run by a nameless faceless government bureaucracy.



Worst about it is the hypocrasy and lies. Do you remember Obama saying no one had to give up their present health care if they like it?

Not far into the bill, after that promise is a little gem that reads that we may keep our present health ins if we like it. HOWEVER, IF WE LOSE THAT INS.--CHANGE JOBS, that co. defaults, etc. YOU MAY NOT enroll in another plan of your choice if it is 1 day or more after the bill is law.
That is right--if you lose your present coverage, you have NO options --you go to Obama care.
Knowing these people, there is no telling what other objectionable little surprises they have written in. Once they get it, things cannot ever go back.



Obamacare Could Kill You

A recent Zogby poll suggests that the President-elect's supporters have managed to remain remarkably innocent about his history and proposals. It is probable, therefore, that many people who believe they voted merely for what the Obama-Biden campaign site calls "affordable and accessible" health care will be unpleasantly surprised by the "reform" they are about to get.
A case in point involves a proposal put forth by Obama's "health care czar," Tom Daschle. It is unlikely that many of the President-elect's supporters realize that Tom Daschle advocates the creation of a federal health care bureaucracy whose decrees will supersede the judgment and decisions of physicians and their patients. This "Federal Health Board," as Daschle refers to his proposed behemoth, would be modeled on Great Britain's National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE). In the UK's socialized medical system, NICE is the bureaucracy responsible for determining the value and effectiveness of medical treatments and procedures. And it regularly hands down death sentences to gravely ill patients.

One of NICE's many victims is Jack Rosser of South Gloucestershire. Rosser has advanced kidney cancer and would likely benefit from Sutent, a drug widely used in the United States for such patients. Rosser's doctor has said that Sutent could well add years to his life. However, as Bloomberg reports, "The U.K.'s National Health Service (NHS) says that's not worth the expense." Specifically, a preliminary recommendation by NICE held that Sutent and several other cancer drugs should not be funded "in light of their cost." And local NHS authorities, including those in Gloucestershire, rarely defy the "recommendations" of NICE. So, in the words of Rosser's wife, "They are sentencing him to die.''

Can Daschle really favor such outrages in the United States? Yes he can! In his book, Critical: What We Can Do About the Health-Care Crisis, Daschle specifically cites NICE as the model for a "successful" government bureaucracy: "In other countries, national health boards have helped to ensure quality and rein in costs.…In Great Britain, for example, the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence…is the single entity responsible for providing guidance on the use of new and existing drugs, treatments, and procedures."
And, lest you think that he doesn't intend his board to be as powerful as NICE, here is what he says about those who may object to its decrees: "Doctors and patients might resent any encroachment on their ability to choose certain treatments, even if they are expensive or ineffective." Any guesses as to who decides whether care is "ineffective" or too "expensive"?

But surely Congress, even under the control of the Democrats, would never stand for such a thing. Well, the tone of Daschle's initial Senate hearing was not encouraging for those depending on the legislature to check the excesses of the executive branch. Even the New York Times found the hearing to be nauseatingly obsequious: "The hearing before a Senate health committee was mostly a love-fest as senators from both parties expressed admiration for their former Senate colleague…" In fact, part of Daschle's strategy for gaining congressional support for his Federal Health Board is to provide his former colleagues with political cover. As he puts it in his book, "I suspect that most members of Congress would be glad to be rid of their responsibility for controversial health policy decisions."

And, make no mistake about it, these "controversial decisions" will produce corpses. In fact, NICE has moved beyond mere denial of life-saving medication to gravely ill patients. It has also recommended that the NHS abandon the "rule of rescue," which requires clinicians to treat dying patients without regard to cost. The Telegraph reports, "The NHS should not always attempt to save someone's life if the cost is too much, the medical regulator [NICE] has ruled." But how much is "too much"? What's a life worth? You and I might think this question hard if not impossible to answer, but NICE is not encumbered by our limitations. It has actually assigned a monetary value to human life.

The New York Times reports, "A British government agency, the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence…has decided that Britain, except in rare cases, can afford only £15,000, or about $22,750, to save six months of a citizen's life." The Times tells the story of Bruce Hardy, yet another patient from whom cancer treatment is being withheld by Britain's health care bureaucrats. To the Gray Lady's credit, the piece points out that it would be different if the patient were an American: "If the Hardys lived in the United States… Mr. Hardy would most likely get the drug, although he might have to pay part of the cost." The U.S. health care system, phony studies about people dying for lack of insurance notwithstanding, does not let people die simply because treatment is expensive.
Barack Obama's health care czar wants to change all that.

Tom Daschle wants to get costs under control, and he believes a federal health care agency modeled on NICE will accomplish that goal. And his boss is very much behind him on this. The President-elect has repeatedly said that the idea of a Federal Health Board "holds great promise" for "giving this nation the health care it deserves."
But do we really deserve a health care system in which soulless bureaucrats arbitrarily put a dollar value on our lives, in which gravely ill patients are allowed to die because treatment costs too much? Do we really deserve to be treated the way Jack Rosser and Bruce Hardy have been treated? Not even Barack Obama's supporters, for all their naiveté, deserve a health care system that might kill them.

Medicare - What is all the fuss about?
Medicare (and health insurance) is a political football. The aging baby boomers are currently contributing more tax dollars to the Medicare Trust Fund than they ever will again in our lifetime. In 2011, the first baby boomers will become eligible for Medicare, and many of them will retire, no longer contributing to the tax base.
Instead, they will become consumers of the Medicare system and begin to tap into the very funds they contributed to Medicare for more than 40 years. Within a few decades, we will suffer massive deficits caused by Medicare, Medicaid (welfare—long term care) and Social Security.
There is simply not a way to finance the Medicare system long term by raising taxes. Even if taxes were raised by 50 percent of the current rate, there still would not be enough money to fund the Medicare Part A Trust Fund for the long term.
The current Part A trust is expected to pay more than it takes in by 2019, and some are estimating this will begin to occur as early as 2016.

A three-year-old girl awaiting heart surgery has had her operation cancelled three times this month because of a shortage of beds.

Ella Cotterell was due to have aorta-widening surgery on Monday at the Children’s Hospital, Bristol. But 48 hours beforehand, the operation was cancelled for the third time as all 15 beds in the intensive care unit were occupied, her parents said.

A hospital spokesman said that procedures would be reviewed, but the case highlights a growing problem of cancelled operations in the NHS.

More than 57,000 surgeries were postponed for non-clinical reasons, including a lack of beds, last year – 10 per cent more than the previous year.

Latest figures show that the problem persists. At least 43,000 operations were cancelled in the first nine months of 2008-09, with nearly 1,800 patients not being treated within 28 days of their original scheduled date.

Among the excuses for cancellation the previous year were a hospital running out of shavers to prepare patients for surgery, a surgeon going missing following a fire alarm, and a patient’s translator failing to turn up.

Ella needed open heart surgery when she was nine days old to repair her aorta, the body’s main artery, which had not formed properly in the womb.

At 18 months old she suffered a stroke after falling down the stairs at her home and banging her head, temporarily paralysing the left side of her body.

Her parents, Ian Cotterell and Rachel Davis, were told last October that she would need an operation within 12 to 18 months.

Doctors carried out two angioplasties, where small balloons are inserted and inflated to clear a blocked blood vessel, but neither was successful.

Further surgery was initially planned for April 2 but was cancelled because of emergency cases and rearranged for four days later, the couple said. However, the operation was cancelled again for the same reason.

A third date was arranged for April 20 and last Thursday Ella went to the hospital for tests. On Saturday her parents received another call explaining her operation would have to be cancelled.

Victim: Jean Murphy, 62, was denied life-saving cancer drugs by the NHS postcode lottery but then received the money from an anonymous donation

Hundreds of cancer patients are being left to die on the NHS because of a postcode lottery over who gets life-saving drugs.

A study has found that more than 1,300 patients with rare forms of cancer have been refused access to treatments in less than two years because their case was not deemed 'exceptional' enough.


They will be forced to go without the life-saving treatments, unless they can afford to pay privately for the drugs.


But if they do so, they risk having all their other NHS care withdrawn, because the Government outlaws 'co-payments'.

Details obtained by the Rarer Cancers Forum under the Freedom of Information Act revealed that some 5,000 patients were forced to plead with NHS managers to receive high-cost drugs not yet examined by rationing body the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence.

Only 26 per cent of them succeed - some 1,314 over the past 20 months - and there is massive geographical variation, with some primary care trusts funding 100 per cent of the cases that come in front of them, and others rejecting 100 per cent.

Although the Government says treatments should not be refused simply because a trust is short of cash, the report indicates that many areas are refusing drugs for financial reasons.


 

A Department of Health spokesman said the draft NHS Constitution will make it explicit that patients have a right to NICE-approved drugs if clinically appropriate and there are plans to speed up the process for appraising new drugs.

The NHS was told today to stop relying on charities to fill funding gaps after figures revealed many trusts would not pay the full cost of electric wheelchairs for disabled children.

Freedom of information figures obtained by the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign found children were subject to a postcode lottery in terms of equipment.

Statistics from 54% of NHS trusts in England and Scotland revealed that disabled children in England are forced to wait five months on average for a wheelchair.

The worst performing primary care trust (PCT), East Lancashire, in the north-west of England, had an average wait of two years for an electric wheelchair.

The survey showed 58% of children in England had to wait at least three months for an electric wheelchair and 14% waited more than six months.

In the case of Westminster and Islington PCTs in London, children living just four miles apart could have a difference of 11 months in waiting time.

Overall, 50% of the PCTs that responded said they did not fund the full cost of a powered wheelchair for a disabled child.

Westminster PCT made an average contribution of only £700 towards the cost of a child's powered wheelchair, it said.

Almost all PCTs contacted by the charity said the cost of a wheelchair was around £2,000 but in fact the true cost of a basic electric wheelchair would be around £3,000.

A separate patient survey of 237 children found one in three did not receive any funding at all for their wheelchair.

Philip Butcher, chief executive of the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign, said: "Today's figures are nothing short of a national scandal.

"It is a damning indictment of the NHS that so many families across the UK are forced to rely on charities or be driven into financial hardship just to receive vital, life-improving equipment for their disabled children.

"It's time the NHS stopped relying on charities to fill the gaps left by its inadequate funding."



Two PCTs in the West Midlands – Birmingham East and North, and South Birmingham – have waiting times for a powered wheelchair of 18 months compared to a national average of just under five months, the report said.

Cyberella, bless you,  Wow, you got the numbers, snail mail addy's, and the whole enchilada.  Good for you.  I have sent so many faxes and emails, and will continue to.  Bless Rick Perry.  I like this man.  No garbage from him.  Go ahead Rick succeed from the Union, what's left of it.  It is ridiculous.  Part of the reason that there are no bed, no advantage in the UK system is that they are broke, the government cannot run anything properly and they also have so many illegal immigrants and those on the dole who do not work to put into the system.  It is a nightmare and the largest employer in the UK. 

The whole thing is broken.  Nope, no way, no this country.  Not now, not every.  There are laws that can be put into place to fix the insurance companies from ruining people, laws put into place to prevent BigPharm from imposing ridiculous prices on medication, laws put in the play that can make the hospitals not go bonkers charging people to compensate for those who do not have insurance, there are many other options to put into play through laws, not government controlled health cared, besides medicare is broke.  Who is suppose to pay for all this when the nation is broke?  It is utterly ridiculous.
