I have seen Andrew Zimmern in Ghana & Ethiopia. Lots of the stuff there I would eat too.

Ethiopians (at least originally) were racially Semitic and completely distinct from sub-Saharan Africa. They are much more similar to Jews than negroes. In fact, they even keep some of the kashrut dietary laws.
