As long as this current radical regime remains in power in Iran, we are assured of continuing anti-Israel, anti-US terrorism coming from Tehran. Ahmadinejad has openly declared that his mission is to engage in a second Iranian revolution, completing the work begun in 1979 by Ayatollah Khomeini.
Israel is at a historic moment where millions of Jewish lives are being threatened. Iran is determined to tighten the vise—pursuing nuclear weapons on a fast track, while unleashing Hezbollah and Hamas to crank up the pressure. Israel can survive, but only if the Jewish state remains steadfast in the determination to defend itself at all costs. Facing the radical religious zealots who control the Iranian regime, a conflict of biblical proportions is building even as hourly news updates are being issued right now around the world.
Clearly, for Ahmadinejad, politics and religion are inseparable. The goal of the Islamic theocracy remains the worldwide expansion of the Iranian revolution.
“Some politicians think we had a revolution so that some could hit others in the head and have one party ruling for some time and another party in opposition for some time,” Ahmadinejad continued. “But we had a revolution to achieve a lofty goal, on the basis of the Expectation of the Return. Our interpretation is that the hand of the Almighty is putting every piece of the jigsaw puzzle of the future of the world in place, in line with the goals of Islam.”
He ended by stressing the goal of eliminating the United States from the region: “The Global Oppressor [the United States] occupied these countries [Afghanistan and Iraq] with the aim of putting pressure on Iran, but God let the fruit of this fall on the lap of the Iranian nation.”
With this rhetoric, Ahmadinejad makes clear that he is a fervent religious ideologue. He sees himself as advancing the plan laid down in prophecy by Ayatollah Khomeini. The shared view is that the Iranian revolution is fated to expand and that Israel is fated for destruction.
According to the vision, once Israel is gone, the Iranian revolution will take its next fated expansion, expanding worldwide. Soon, the United States too will be wiped from the face of the earth. Iran defiantly pursues uranium processing and enrichment while these verbal assaults are being made by the country’s president. This only reinforces the unfortunate conclusions that Iran has secretly planned all along to make atomic bombs. With each passing day the “point of no return” grows nearer. If left unchecked, Iran will soon have the weapons needed to fulfill Ayatollah Khomeini’s dream.
