Nixon sues author of racist Internet Web site for deceptively soliciting funds in the name of hurricane relief
 
Attorney General Nixon; Harold Crumpton, president of the St. Louis NAACP; and Terry Bloomberg, president of the Jewish Community Relations Council of St. Louis., announce Nixon's lawsuit against a St. Louis man who claimed donations to several Web sites he set up would help Hurricane Katrina victims.
St. Louis, Mo. — Attorney General Jay Nixon today filed a lawsuit to prevent a St. Louis man who has captured multiple Web site addresses in the name of Hurricane Katrina relief from misleading consumers and redirecting money collected to anti-Semitic and racist organizations.

The lawsuit, filed in St. Louis County Circuit Court, seeks to freeze the assets of Frank Weltner — a self-proclaimed white separatist — and prohibit him from soliciting funds under the guise of hurricane relief. Nixon is also asking the court to order the shutdown of the Web site internetdonations.org, which serves as a central collection point for at least 10 Weltner-operated Web sites with hurricane relief-related themes. Weltner also operates a Web site known as "Jew Watch," a widely regarded anti-Semitic hate speech site, which collects donations through internetdonations.org.

"It is an outrage for someone to solicit funds from well-meaning Americans eager to lend a helping hand to the victims of Hurricane Katrina, only to funnel those donations to something that is nothing more than a racist hate site," Nixon said. "Donors to the thousands of legitimate and worthwhile charities providing hurricane relief need to be reassured that their hard-earned dollars are going toward their intended purpose, and flim-flam artists working this tragedy for personal gain will not be tolerated."

From 1992 to January 2005, Weltner was known as "Couch Potato" on his St. Louis radio show that boasted racist and anti-Semitic themes. He is also associated with the National Alliance, listed by the Southern Poverty Law Center as one of the nation's most active neo-Nazi hate groups.

Nixon said that Weltner is "taking advantage of the generosity of Americans from coast-to-coast to promote racism and hate." Neither Weltner nor any of his affiliated organizations have ever been registered with Nixon's office to solicit charitable donations in Missouri.

Nixon noted that scam artists will typically try to exploit tragedies and natural disasters to deceive would-be donors into giving money to bogus charities.

Last month, Nixon launched his "Check A Charity" Web site — available through www.ago.mo.gov — where donors can research charitable organizations and access such information as what percentage of donations are used for charitable programs and what percent is used for administrative expenses.

Other tips for charitable giving include:

Be suspicious of anyone wanting on-the-spot donations or refusing to provide written, verifiable information about their organization.
Don't assume a charity is legitimate based on its name. Many scam artists will use a name that sounds good or is similar to the name of a well-established, respected charity.
Don't make cash donations. Use a credit card or check so you'll have a record of the payment.

This is the point I was trying to make on another thread. The meaning of zionism has been hijacked by fruitcakes like this. Some people who claim to be 'anti-zionist' only do so because of rank misinformation.

I agree.....but I sad 'some', meaning 10%. The hard liners will never change. Remember that people are not Jew-haters because some have made up lies about Jews. People make up lies about Jews because they are Jew-haters.

The thing that I hate about conspiracy theorists is that they are so goal oriented that they will ignore all of the facts that get in their way.

It is impossible to convince a conspiracy theorist that he's worng because no actually proof is necessary because it's obviously been covered up and any denial is more proof of it's veracity.

Now, Jew-hating conspiracy theorists have a goal. An idea, actually. That the Jews control everything that happens in the world and therefore any good thing that happens to the jewish people was them tricking and sneaking and arm-twisting their way into good fortune.

When something terrible happens to the Jewish people, either the Jews are just lying about it and it never really happened ie. the Holocaust. Or they did it themselves. Like the arabs say about 9/11 and what they said about the Munich olympics murders.

These people will never be convinced that there is not a rabbinical council that gets together every hundred years and plans out all of human history.

They beleive that Jews are superhuman, apparently. And can therefore control all things that happen. They also beleive that we are evil and satanic and therefore we are responsible for all the evil in the world that apparently control.

This is their view and it will probably never change.

I've given up trying to argue with them for that reason. You can never present any news item or fact as proof because they think everything's a lie and part of the plot. There were a few hangers on around the periphery of these groups that I have managed to salvage.

Muslims are even worse on the conspiracy stuff. You should hear the stuff arab muslims have said to me..... it beggers belief.
