Muslim group "outraged" at Ft Hood shooting justified Hezbollah suicide bombing that killed 241 MarinesThis video below features Muslim Public Affairs Council (MPAC) president Salam Al-Marayati expressing his "outrage" at yesterday's shooting at Ft Hood. That would be the same MPAC that in 1999 published a counterterrorism policy paper that justified the Hezbollah suicide bombing of the US Marine barracks in Beirut, which killed 241 US Marines, sailors and soldiers: "…this attack, for all the pain it caused, was not in a strict sense, a terrorist operation. It was a military operation, producing no civilian casualties -- exactly the kind of attack that Americans might have lauded had it been directed against Washington's enemies."
This is the very same ideology preached by Malik Nadal Hasan in defense of suicide bombings. No doubt Hasan considered yesterday's mass murder a "military operation".
In June 1999, al-Marayati was selected by then House Majority Leader Dick Gephardt to a 10 member congressional commission on terrorism. However, after reports of Marayati's open support of terrorist organizations came to light Gephardt was forced to withdraw his nomination. Where might you find such information? Well, you used to be able to find it at this link ("US Muslim leader denies he's a terrorist sympathizer") at CNN until is was recently scrubbed.
Marayati was also infamous for appearing on a LA radio station on 9/11 blaming the Jews for the terrorist attacks.More on Marayati and MPAC at the Investigative Project.
