Yaakov studing Torah in the tent???? Tanach does not say the Yaakov was studying Torah! Torah was given to Moses in Mount Sinai during the exodus period? Wasn't it?
Yitzak gave Essau a promise in Genesis 27:40
You will live by the sword and you will serve your brother. But when you grow restless, you will throw his yoke from off your neck."
This prophecy was fulfilled centuries later when King Herod and his sons who ruled Israel during the post-exile/Roman empire period. Herod was a descendant of Essau.

It was a different form of of Torah. Same ideas, but still Torah. Don't forget that Hashem looked into the Torah and created the world.
Kahane-Was-Right BT:
When Avraham converted travellers who dined with him to believe in God, what was he teaching them? Calculus? He was teaching the fundamentals of Torah. This was a tradition to pass on these teachings. Until Mt Sinai's revelation and Moshe's writing, where we had a complete text to give over with many details and clarified practices. Up until that point, the basics of Torah (and what would comprise the foundations of Written Torah given to Moshe), were learned and taught. When Yakov did righteous deeds, he was bringing his familial traditions into practice. Those type of traditions don't just happen by accident. They have to be cherished, preserved, transmitted, taught and learned, all in some type of formalized/standardized way in order to protect and maintain the inner essence of such teachings. Not by accident.
Yishmael and Esau were off the derech.
