I have a question
Edward:
I must learn the Hebrew language because I'm going to move to Israel soon.. I know some basic phrases and have a limited vocabulary but it isn't enough! And the greatest problem is that I can't read! I already know the aleph-beit but there are too many rules!
It's not that it's difficult for me to learn new languages, as I already know 5 different languages (German, Swedish, Spanish, Italian, basic Yiddish and of course my mother tongue American English) but these all are European languages, the Hebrew language has a whole different structure and grammatical rules.. I'm just hopeless! I've been trying to learn it for more than 2 years!!!!
Spectator:
Here's another basic phase for you:
ארץ ישראל לעם ישראל
pronounced: "eretz yisra'el la'am yisra'el"
translation: "Land of Israel [belongs] to the people of Israel" (people of Israel = Jews)
Are you familiar with the vocalization (signs that stand for vowels, written under the letters)?
Edward:
Ahhh.... yeah I guess.. but it's too complicated!
Zelhar:
When you move to Israel, aren't you going to study basic hebrew in the "ulpan" ?
Edward:
Yes. But I want to learn some by myself.. and it seems impossible.
