Ask JTF for Sunday February 14, 2010

Dr. Dan:
Shalom Chaim

Where in the Tanach is it written about Moshiach?  What does it exactly say?  How did the Rabbis decide to take those words literally that the dead will come back alive?  Were there Rabbis who felt that the description of the End of Days and the Days to Come were not meant to be taken literally?  What were their point of views?  How did they lose the argument to the literalists?

Another question:  I understand the rationale of an Orthodox place of worship to be called a "shul" or "synogogue" and never a "temple".  However, why do the Conserved and Deformed and Deconstructed ones call their "place of worship" 'temples'?  Why don't they use the term "shul" or "synogogue"?

To me, I never realized the difference since I joined the forum.  Perhaps you can shed some light on this.

Thank you

Dr. Dan

Yaacov Ben Yehuda:
Shalom Chaim,

1. What do you think about the right wing activist group in Israel called "Im Tirtzu"?

2. what do you think of the Bnei Menashe (Burmese Jews claiming ancestral decent from the tribe of Menashe), apparently theirs over 1 million of them, although the vast majority converted to Christianity, and only a few thousand are calling themselves Jews.  I know some made Aliyah to Israel already.  Do you think that they are actually from the tribe of Menashe??

3. Have you heard about some claims that some Afghan Pashtun tribes might be from the lost tribes of Israel?  These are the same people that make up the majority of the Taliban!  Apparently they are conducting DNA testing on these people to verify if indeed they are originally Jews.

Thanks as always and may Hashem Bless!

Hello Brother Chaim!

Been a long time since I been able to get on JTF, but being 1/2 way around the globe it wasn't that easy to do log ins into JTF.  Anyways, I miss you guys. Just been rather busy in these villages. From what I been seeing how these people live I can say this.. Thank God I am an American and that I live in such a great land with abundance and resources.  The poverty level here is unbelievable.  They live on what is equal to 120 US Dollars per month.  But they are not like the parasites we have in the States, the ones that claim that have nothing but sucking welfare dry to the bone.  Well, hope all is well with my favorite movement. Tomorrow I have to go into another peasant village and deliver some food and water to children living in temples cause their parents died from disease, here malaria is very high in South East Asia. I wish our own can see the difference in claiming to be poor but are too damn lazy to do anything for themselves and being poor cause there is nothing to live on.  Other then cultivating rice or raising farm animals in the villages most like 90% of these people have squat.

Have a good week brother..

Anthony

WestCoastJTF:
Dear Chaim,

I remember back in 2001, just before I started archiving, you told the story on one of your shows about a young Jewish activist who helped JTF.  This young man (I think he was 18 or so) was devoted to the cause and came in every day to work at JTF.  He died at a very young age.  I think he died from cancer but I don't remember exactly.  You devoted an entire the show to him, telling how inspiring you thought this young idealistic man was.  I wonder if you remember him and if you could recap his story for the current audience.

A couple quick points on fundraising:

* Have you ever considered trying Google Ads or some other banner ad network on jtf.org?  I don't like to look at ads, but I would gladly do so if it would raise money for JTF.  Considering how many views JTF gets, perhaps it would be a significant amount of money.
* At the beginning of the Ask JTF show, you dedicate the show to elevating the souls of several people.  What do you think of selling sponsorship?  For $20 or whatever, JTFers could purchase a dedication at the beginning of the show.
PS...every week you say there are "hundreds of shows" in the archives.  I thought you might be interested to know that the exact stat is 838 shows, plus about 100 videos.  We're closing in on 1,000!

Ari Ben-Canaan:
Dear Chaim,

Do you like comic books [or have you enjoyed them earlier in life]?  If so, who are your favorite superheroes?

Do you know much about Yiddish [or Jewish] music?  I have been enjoying, "The Soundtrack of the Partisans of Vilna", as well as some of the Barry Sisters I found on Youtube.  I don't speak Yiddish, but I like folk sound and high energy.  Could you recommend some artists?  [who also are good Jews as well!  Musicians seem to often be Leftist... like Barbara Streisand.]

What do you think about Alan Keyes?  I realize there are many black people to think lowly of because the way they may stereotypically act, but [to my knowledge] Mr. Keyes is a decent man, a staunch conservative, and major ObaMao Tzedong critic[he wants a look at the BHO long form birth certificate himself!].

What do you think about Krav Maga?
