A new infographic that breaks down income levels in the U.S. by religion has been circling the web. Created by GOOD and Column Five Media the graph is based on information from the Pew Forum and it compares the income level of each religion to the national average.

According to the graph, the richest religion is Judaism with 46 percent of Jews earning over $100,000 and only 14 percent making less than $30,000. In comparison, only 13 percent of Evangelical Christians earn over $100,000 while 34 percent make less than $30,000.

The second richest religion after Judaism is Hinduism, with 43 percent of Hindus making over $100,000 and only 9 percent making under $30,000.

I work with many engineers from India, though my company has many working on H1B visas including citizens of China, Korea, Japan, Europe, Canada, and everywhere in between.

I just heard from my good friend Rambabu who just applied for a new job. I think that most of the Indian engineers I work with are basically good people.

i'm sure they are more frank with Amercian Jews. With all the history, there is something which makes us feel as natural friends.

Btw there is a serious issue which is going to hurt many of us, if something is not done. There are many Pakistanis,Bangaldeshis who masquerade as Indians, because they dont want to be seen in suspicion by telling their real identity. Especially in Michigan, where they own shops naming it "South Asian" or "Desi" or "Indian". Does not mean they are really Indians. I hope Amercian JTFrs are careful enough before making an Indian their friend.

majority of non-resident indian hindus are outright nationalists, so i dont have anything against them. Yes I take no pride for the three Hindus who are listed in Worlds Top 10 richest individuals, i dont disrespect their hardwork. But it makes us feel that there is lot of disparity in income distribution in India, while 35% populace continue to suffer in poverty.

You can usually tell a Pakistani Muslim by their face. They have this very specific type of beard they wear most of the time that makes them stand out. They do look like Indians though other than that. You're right about them opening shops that are called Indian, etc. 

A LOT of people have no idea that Arabs and Indians are two different people. I have heard many times someone refer to a clear Arab as an "Indian". This is of course even harder when the Muslim is Pakistani. They just call them Indians too.

I work with many Indians as well, both here in the USA and offshore talent in India.

I was just pointing out that of the Hindus in the USA, the vast majority are people who came here as technical professionals, doctors, scientists, etc.  So therefore, Hindus in the US will tend to have high incomes.  If we counted ALL the Hindus in the world, however, I think they'd be more in line with other religions.

Why are the evangelical Christians so unsuccessfull? Frugal lifestyle and good working ethic are key factors to accumulate capital. Max Weber wrote about it. He did a research in my country and came to the result, that Christians with reformed believe were the most successfull. But he did it in 1905.

Most evangelical Christians have reformed theology. The catholics were in Weber's analysis the ones who do poorly. But today it seems, like the relation has turned upside down. Today it seems like reformed Christianity became a religion for the poor.

In earlier years the catholic states of Germany were the last in the list. Today it seems like it has turned around. This can be noticed also in the voting of the people in this states. Catholics in the South vote mostly Christian conservative or classic liberal. The Protestants in the north vote mostly socialist althrough they are mostly Lutherian.

Concerning Hindus and Jews. Hindus are successfull in my country as well, like Chinese and other East Asian people. They have an enourmous discipline and working power.

Jews are without any doubt on the top of the list. I have read a research by Werner Sombart and read his sources.

I think all in all the chart is correct.

When I was studying the engineering, there was only one engineering college in my tiny city. Now there are 101 engineering colleges in my city. So it was to happen one day.
