http://www.wnd.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&pageId=128917The creation of crises, as I have explained previously, is Barack Obama's primary mode of governance. Why? Simply because center-right America naturally doesn't want to go where far-left Obama wants to lead, so to force the issue he must create crises. He must.
Why? Understand that the kind of government Obama, Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid want, namely statism or socialism, is perpetual crisis. Repeat: Leftists' idea of utopia – socialist, cradle-to-grave security for everyone – is by definition a state of crisis. Whenever adult human beings cannot take care of themselves and their families, but become so dysfunctional and helpless that they voluntarily become wards of a mommy government, those people are living in a state of crisis – the very environment in which socialists thrive. Get it? Socialism, Marxism, progressivism, "spread-the-wealth-around–ism" – call it what you will – can grow only in a nutrient base of chaos, discontent and dysfunction.
After all, the only societal noncrisis condition leftists know is an imaginary state of radical equality that has never existed and never can, because it so flagrantly violates the laws of human nature, economics, morality and genuine liberty.

In the 14 months since Obama's inauguration, we all have been treated to an unending stream of fake "crises," on which our parasitical leaders have gorged themselves. Quick review:
* "Global warming is destroying our planet, the Himalayan glaciers are melting, the polar bears dying, oceans rising, and millions of children are going to die – that is, unless we pass cap and trade!" Pass the barf bag.
As everyone now knows – with the possible exception of Al Gore – global warming is at best an utterly unproven theory, based on zero science (I mean that literally; computer modeling is not science, experimentation is), diminished by major contrary evidence and discredited by widespread and possibly criminal fraud. Certainly not something on which to restructure the world's economy, impose massive new taxes, cripple industries and effect unprecedented wealth transfers, both within the U.S. and internationally.
* "Swine flu is a horrific pandemic, and 90,000 Americans may soon die." At least, that's what the White House told us in a press release. Fortunately, the very next day, the head of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Dr. Thomas Frieden, told the nation to ignore the White House's wild fearmongering.
"Everything we've seen in the U.S. and everything we've seen around the world suggests we won't see that kind of number if the virus doesn't change," he said.
It's not just the White House that loves to hype crises, by the way. Anyone who wants to advance an agenda can find a made-to-fit crisis. It just so happens that last May, a few days before classifying the H1N1 swine flu as a phase 6 worldwide pandemic – the highest, scariest category – the World Health Organization quietly redefined "pandemic" to eliminate the phrase "enormous numbers of deaths and illness," and substituted instead that pandemics "can be either mild or severe in the illness and death they cause." Oh really? Seems to me there's a pretty big difference between "mild" and "severe." So why would the same classification cover both? That's another story, but let's just say a lot of money starts to flow and a lot of new power accrues to the WHO when a major pandemic is declared.
* "America will plunge into hopeless depression if government doesn't spend trillions and take over entire sectors of the economy." America's and the world's economic problems are, of course, quite real. But Obama used the crisis to effect a massive and unprecedented (in America) power grab, wresting control over entire industries – banking, automobile manufacturing – and lusting after the energy sector, as well as socialism's crown jewel: health care. He has succeeded in creating a much bigger economic crisis, rapidly pushing America's debt, deficit and future inflation (the printing press has become the only way out of such astronomic debt) beyond the nation's ability to rebound. But then, if the secret object of the federal spending orgy is to break the capitalist system (or as leftists like to say, "to highlight the fundamental contradictions of capitalism"), then the economic crisis can be a useful tool. Remember Rahm Emanuel's famous admission, "You never want a serious crisis to go to waste."
In reality, massive government and Federal Reserve intervention has virtually always worsened and prolonged economic downturns, not solved them. As I have written previously, Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke has candidly admitted that the Federal Reserve caused the Great Depression, and economists now acknowledge FDR's revered "New Deal" policies actually prolonged the Depression by many years.
Crises keep us off balance, so the crisis-creators can grow in power and implement their wealth-and-liberty-stealing agendas while we're distracted, confused and upset. Agendas like socialized medicine.
