Expatriate from Obama land...... where to go?

There are good to deals...sometimes people just want to get things off of their hands.

FYI, someone just posted this on Craig'slist about buying boats, so be careful. lol.
For those of you that might get that boating fever beware. There are a lot of boats out there that need serious repairs, at times cost as much as the boat does to buy it. Boat owners that have there boat for sale, know of the problems and sometimes have a boat repair shop do minor repairs to get it by just to sell it. Service shops are not going to say anything because they might lose a customer and of course the boat owner is not going to say anything because they can't sell a broken boat. Last winter came on quickly and some boat owners were not ready for the freeze. Their boats were not winterized. Manifolds and engine blocks cracked. So the engines were destroyed by freeze damaged while others substained manifold cracks. Exhaust manifolds were damaged but not enough to cause water to leak in to engine places where water does not belong; or in exhaust ports causing engine running problem. So this is where shade tree mechanics come in to hide damage caused by freezing. Out side repairs were made by shops or boat owner to hide the freeze damage by using sealents and other forms repairs to hide mechanical problems. These boats will be going up for sale before the mechanical problems come to lite. The new boat owners will have to deal with these problems and cost of repairs. There is no lemon laws for boats so you'll be on your own if you buy.
The general rule should be, which is seldom used. When buying any boat wheather from a dealer, consignment, or by a boat owner is to have a mechanical survey performed by an experienced marine mechanic and not at the shop where the boat might be sold. Do not use a surveyor that is part of any marine repair business which might be influnanced by the repair business.
Example:
Customer brought in his boat into a repair shop because it was over heating. He had just purchased it from a private party not more then a week ago. When the new boat owner had gone down to the river with the seller, the new owner did not go out in the boat but watch the seller start it up and watch it run on the trailer. The new owner trusted the seller that the boat was in good shape. Wrong thing to do these days. There is NO Lemon Laws for boats. Come to find out,the manufold was cracked and was allowing water to come into the combustion cylinders. The manufold would cost over a thousand dollars to replace. The new owner was going to try to sell it to a boat salvage yard and take the loss. So when you purchase a boat, it is AS IS, so if it has problems it becomes your problem. You might try taking the person to court but if he gives you a bill of sale saying AS IS you are going to loose in court. As for companies that sell boats on consignment, they have contracts with small paragraphs that say the new owner is responsibe for servey or mechanical servey. This takes the company off the hook for anything that might be wrong. I have seen this done far to many times in the past. The boating industry is not regulated so this type of business practiced goes on every day. The new boat owner finds out the hard way each and everytime.
For those full service boating companies that are honest you should not have a problem with the information that I present to the boating community. There are honest boating companies out there, there just hard to find. Greed is the main factor why companies do it. The companies that scream the loudest about this type of thing not happening are the ones most probably doing it. The other indication is the flagging of this article because they want the boat community in the dark.
If you have any questions about buy a boat fell free to call 503-729-6412. There are NO free or Low priced used boats. They all cost something to repair.

The bid is only $19,000 and I wonder why so low other than people may feel uncomfortable thinking it is a scam. If it is legitimate it surely will not sell for $19,000. I would guess the electronics in it are worth more than that.

What does a yacht actually cost to own? What is the cost of fuel, docking, upkeep/repairs and insurance? I don't think yachts were meant for the average person, like me, no matter what they cost to buy. :'(

The support for Obamacare came not from the medical community -- the support came from the AMA, Big Pharma, and Big Insurance.
Most American medical practitioners don't belong to the American Medical Association.
The AMA functions as a professional lobbying group, just like Americans for Gun Control or the Association of Retired Americans.
The ARA lobbies for gun control, but ask yourself this question:
"How can full time employees work out of an office in Washington, D.C. lobbying to make guns illegal, all while calling themselves The Association of Retired Americans?"

Some of us should pool together and get a boat.
