World's best soldiers?

Who are the best soldiers on Earth? By "best" I mean on the individual level, not the best army because some may have better technology etc.

I choose the Germans, the Jews (not Galut Jews, but Jewish Jews such as Judah the Maccabee, Bar Kochva, etc), the Japanese and the Pashtuns.

The Israelis are some of the best soldiers in the world. It's just too bad, the Israeli government doesn't want to win. For example in the recent Lebanon war.

It is difficult to have an opinion on the Germans and the Japanese today because they have not been operational since WWII.
In recent times, the Israelis have proven to be very good soldiers several times. If it wasn't for the political establishment in Israel who stopped them each time, they would have crushed the Arab world in 1967 and in 1973, they would have crushed the PLO and Hezbollah in Lebanon, they would have crushed Hamas like a cockroach in Gaza. And if it wasn't for the political establishment in Israel again, they would have won all these wars with many fewer casualties.

There's some good responses above.  The Brits would rely a lot on their colonials to do their tough fighting in WWI and WWII, whether from India, Australia, South Africa, etc.  And speaking of South Africa, the Brits really took it in the teeth during the Boer War.  There's a great movie about that called Breaker Morant.  One of Winston Churchill's most celebrated personal triumphs was just surviving the Boer War.

I'm going from memory here:  Douglas MacArthur reportedly once said something like, "Pound-for-pound, South Koreans are the toughest soldiers that I've ever worked with."

Then again, I also vaguely recall a comment from a famed American general (I can't remember, so I'm not gonna guess):  "Just give me a bunch of Aggies" (ie, Texas A&M cadet corps) -- grin

I do think Israeli soldiers are good, but if they are religiously motivated, then that will make them more deadly. Sure that Kahanist government will produce such religiously motivated soldiers.

Gurkhas have traditionally been very good in skirmishes.

Indian soldiers are good too, maybe I'm being patriotic. But the thing that Indian soldiers are present on the Worlds Highest Battlefield under a dangerous climate, where death occur due to natural calamity, instead of in battle, tells us a lot about the mettle of the Indian soldiers.
