Ask JTF for Sunday, August 15, 2010
edu:
On a recent ask jtf audio by chaim
it was contended that all the rabbis who were involved with the Talmud Bavli, sinned the sin of the spies for not having moved to Israel.
I believe this is unfair and forbidden to say.
Just as today a Jew is unable to live in Gush Katif due to the control of Hamas of the area and due to the Israeli government, so too there were many times during the period of the Talmud Bavli that Jews were unable to emigrate to Israel. Also even if they had the ability, many might have had legitimate halachic reasons not to go then.
The Talmud Bavli itself issues statements supporting people who choose to live in Israel, and we are obligated to try to judge rabbis favorable when possible.

Dear Chaim
Please join me in a prayer that more rain falls on Pakistan.
What do you think the current Israeli governments sentence will be for Anat Kam and Uri Blau if he is ever caught?
G-d Bless You, Your Loved Ones & The Chosen People.
Rubystars:
Greetings Chaim.
Do you think that we should be concerned about the use of occult imagery in popular culture? Many movies and tv shows as well as other pop culture icons include imagery which could be seen as having occult origins. Many times people watching or consuming these products don't know what the symbols mean and so they absorb them into their unconscious minds. It's true that holiday imagery also has these things, but I think people are more aware of that and put different meanings on it consciously.
I usually only ask one question but I want to ask a related one. What part did occult philosophy such as mystical things from Blavatsky, von List, and Crowley play in Hitler's regime? Was it a major influencing factor?
Spiraling Leopard:
Hello Chaim,
have you ever been and still are in contact with Rabbi Kahane's wife?
Thank you,
Robert.
