Is Governor Pat Quinn pushing for anti-gun referendum in November?Gun rights proponents in Illinois have expressed a concern after reports suggested that Governor Pat Quinn, who is up for reelection in the fall, may be pushing for a referendum to ban a variety of hunting and target firearms this November.
Among the organizations that have spoken against such a proposal is Illinois State Rifle Association (ISRA) Political Victory Fund, which called the Petition to Ban the Sale of Semi-Automatic and Assault Weapons—allegedly filed with with the Illinois State Board of Elections—“a renewed attack” on law-abiding citizens who own guns.
“It appears that Pat Quinn plans to attack hunters and sportsmen from every angle,” said ISRA-PVF spokesman, Richard Pearson.
He added that the governor has again “ shown himself to be more in step with Mayor Daley and the Chicago power structure than he is with the vast majority of Illinois citizens."
The organization has previously criticized Quinn for accepting an endorsement from “gun control extremists” from the the Brady Center to Prevent Gun Violence.ADNFCR-1961-ID-19924674-ADNFCR
