"You were taught that ancient Romans were a uniquely bloodthirsty and cruel people who loved to watch men cut each other up in the arena and paid for the best seats? ... Or ... You believe that the Germans of the Weimar Republic had some innate gene causing them to follow a maniac and commit genocide?"
I'm not 100% sure about the originator of this quote, and my words may not be exactly correct, but the thinking is still valid regardless: When you speak about education, the moral element cannot be ignored, and it must come from home. Any society is only one generation away from being overrun with youngsters acting like animals.
And speaking of education and acting like animals, Weimar Germany was the most educated society in the world at that time, and they freely elected Adolf Hitler as chancellor. Educated, free societies can indeed go nuts.
