Commenting on the letter signed by dozens of rabbis Tuesday against the sale or lease of property to non-Jews in Jewish cities, rightwing activist Baruch Marzel said that it was clear that most of the country's rabbis agreed with the philosophy of the murdered Jewish leader Rabbi Meir Kahane. Kahane had written and spoken against Jews' renting or selling property to Arabs even before he was a Knesset member, over 2 decades ago.
“Now the rabbis agree with Rabbi Kahane that such a ban is based on the Torah, but 25 years ago, when he first said this, they kept quiet, as the media and politicians called Rabbi Kahane a racist. Now the rabbis have admitted that he was right,” Marzel said.
