brilliant.

I love this part:
Quote
Mice have shown no behavioral side-effects to the Bright Pill. "The mice behaved nicely," Breitbart said, "they ate and they had sex."

lol, that is all that mice do (he forgot to mention excreting)!

Of course, they will need to do clinical trials with humans to determine any subtle behavioral affects that simply cannot be observed in mice.

I do wonder how it can work though.  Is this particular protein not needed in other parts of the body and for other functions?   I would like to understand the mechanism behind it.

Brilliant but was this completely necessary when there are so many life-threatening diseases in the world?

There has already been effective birth control for about a century; it's called a vasectomy. Other, more temporary measures are available, at far less reliability. Of course there are various forms of natural family planning available too.

If you absolutely are not in a place in life to have kids at any cost, either get snipped or don't have sex. If you want to have children someday, use a freakin' condom but know that it's not failsafe.

I'd rather see Israeli scientists work on a cancer cure to be honest.

Yes, there are plenty of things that are developed which do not stop life-threatening diseases.

But actually, when "parents" (or a man and a woman who are not even a couple) bring a child into the world which they cannot provide for with basic needs or even be there for, that is pretty 'life-threatening' to the child.   How many illegitimate children would something like this prevent from being born?   Probably a lot, but it's impossible to know I guess.

So what?  This is another format which may be better.

Um, that's your advice I guess, but evidently there are additional options than just those two. Also, a married couple can have sex with each other, and there is no reason why they can't.   If they can't have kids at that time, then birth control is a way to preserve a loving relationship and hopefully they can eventually have the resources to have a child later on.   No need to "get snipped."

I don't get it.  You think condoms are ok, but not a new technology that might be more effective and easier ?     Ok dude, no one is saying you have to take this pill.

There are plenty of Israeli scientists working on a cure for cancer.   There are Israeli scientists in every field.   It is no surprise that the Israeli scientists are also advancing every field, just as this particular discovery does.

This pill should be spread throughout Africa.
No; sterilizations should be spread throughout Africa. Let's make their food and AIDS drugs dependent on getting castrated (oops, I meant vasectomized).

I don't believe that everyone is supposed to conceive at all times, or that all married couples are meant to have bio-children. But not only is all contraception short of sterilization imperfect (and even sterilizings sometimes fail, the body has a terrific instinct to heal itself), but relatively few people use protection properly, every single time. I think that with sex comes responsibility and in almost all cases, having it means accepting some risk of conceiving (and that abortion is NEVER an answer).

I suppose. Messing with hormones is never to be taken lightly though--just ask the numerous women who have suffered life-threatening lung clots from The Pill. We don't know what kind of side effects the male pill will have down the road at this point.

Of course. The best of these generally is probably a condom, but that's not perfect, and supposedly kills some sensation.

I agree completely, I am convinced that the gift of marital love/intimacy is the highest good G-d has created short of unity with him, and in fact Christians believe (I know the Jewish view is different) that Song of Songs is G-d's instruction manual for wholesome sex.

I didn't disagree with that in principle. When I criticized the Vatican for compromising on its zero-contraception stance, it was not because I am against contraception, but because it disgusted me that one of the world's biggest and most ancient religious institutions was willing to throw one of its core beliefs out the window in order to appease the fag lobby. I have always held that non-abortive birth control is completely biblically permissible.

What if they have decided they aren't supposed to have, or have anymore, kids and are positive that this is the right choice for them?

I didn't say it was not okay in terms of rightness/wrongness, just that it seems superfluous to me and we don't know what it will do to a man over the long term right now.

Did you read the article?  This pill is specifically not hormonal.

But you are anyway just proving my point.  You point out limitations of other forms of birth control.  That shows that an improvement was much-needed and beneficial to society.

What if who did?

You have distorted the comment by taking it out of its context.  Originally you said that there are only 2 choices, either don't have sex, or "get snipped."    I was disputing your presentation of "getting snipped" as the only alternative to abstaining from intercourse with one's spouse.    So your question right here really has nothing to do with what I said.

Well, that's why they do studies, as for any new treatment.

Male birth control?
Didn't they solve this problem 5000 years ago?
Yeah, I remember. The ancients used a stone tool invented a million years ago.

Sounds like a discovery which should be weaponized and deployed on our enemies.

NO, not a pill. It should be something to be spread in the air and applied to Fakestinians. And with a retroactive effect if possible!!! I say it seriuosly. Israel should have the nerve and courage to apply compulsory birth control on Arabs, even those so called "refugees" in neighbouring countries.

I think this is a good way for men to protect themselves from unwanted fatherhood. Of course the best way is to have sex only within the context of marriage.
