Kissinger: Gassing Jews would not be a US problem

‘If they put Jews into gas chambers in the Soviet Union, it is not an American concern.’ secretary of state heard telling Nixon on 1973 tape.

WASHINGTON – Henry Kissinger is heard saying the genocide of Soviet Jews would not be an American problem on newly released tapes chronicling President Nixon’s obsession with disparaging Jews and other minorities.

Kissinger’s remarks come after a meeting between the two men and former prime minister Golda Meir on March 1, 1973, in which Meir pleads for US pressure on the Soviet Union to release its Jews.

The men dismiss her plea after Meir leaves.

“The emigration of Jews from the Soviet Union is not an objective of American foreign policy,” The New York Times on Saturday quoted Kissinger, then secretary of state, as saying on the tapes. “And if they put Jews into gas chambers in the Soviet Union, it is not an American concern. Maybe a humanitarian concern.”

Nixon replies: “I know. We can’t blow up the world because of it.”

Six months later, during the Yom Kippur War, Nixon rejected Kissinger’s advice to delay an arms airlift to Israel as a means of setting the stage for an Egypt confident enough to pursue peace; Nixon, among other reasons, cited Israel’s urgent need.

Nixon secretly recorded his White House conversations.

Kissinger is a strange bird... I could understand Nixon's remark about not wanted to start WW3 to some extent but for Kissinger to flatly say it was not Americas concern is really shocking... Not many people care for Kissinger I guess its things like this that are the reason why... By 73 Nixon was not dealing with a full deck anyway... His presidency was falling apart under him so he would not have been much help in any case.

It is hard to find a Jew more despicable than Kissinger.
We all need to pray for Barack Obama, may the Lord provide him a safe move back to Chicago in January 2,013.

Kissinger really should not have been in the position he was in during them years... Israel was front page news for years after the 67 war... Go to most major newspapers back then and I am sure there was not one day that some article did not exist over developments with Israels situation back then... Not that Kissinger was in anyway of a mindset to favor Israel to start off with however I am sure he bent over backwards to prove he would not... For Nixon I am sure that Golda Meir coming to him with a situation involving the Russians was a problem he could do without... People here in America were weary of Vietnam and the ongoing problems in the middle east as it was... I am sure with all Nixon had on his plate Kissinger reaffirming it was not Americas problem was the advice Nixon wanted to hear.
