http://www.onenewsnow.com/Politics/Default.aspx?id=1252024An activist pushing for immigration reform relates the issue of illegal immigration to modern-day slavery -- and says the only way Americans can combat it is by bringing it to a halt.
Michael Erickson, a tea party activist and proponent of an Arizona-like initiative in California, says illegal immigration keeps in power the elites in the United States and Mexico, while keeping many dependent and needy.
"Illegal immigration is the slavery of the 21st Century," states Erickson. "It is a system perpetrated for the sole purpose of mass exploitation of labor; and that only accomplishes one thing -- and that is, putting down a whole class of people, keeping them in a permanent under-class condition."
Erickson contends that permitting illegal immigration in the country not only lowers wages for American workers and hurts the middle class, but also contributes significantly to California's looming budget deficit.
"It causes an enormous fiscal drain in our limited resources," he explains. "Roughly $10 billion out of our $40 billion annual deficit in the state can be directly attributed to social services for illegal immigrants -- education, healthcare, welfare, including incarceration."
The activist believes that when laws are decimated and not implemented, it creates a system of exploitation and loss of freedom.
