It really defies credulity that this low-level soldier could, with little effort, steal all this material.  How was it possible that such top-level and secret material could be gotten so easily by this underling?  You can't as easily steal a CD from Walmart's, yet any fool can take our top secret cable correspondences?  It doesn't say much about people in control here, does it?

How do we know Assange is not in the habit of manufacturing his leaks?  Trust?

none of it has been denied.

How much of it has been claimed by the authorities who created it to be authentic?

The authorities have been calling for his head, but not one accused a document of being forged or fake, so far, to my knowledge.    The suspect bradley manning described how he would just go in pretending to have a cd of his music, then just upload hundreds of files onto the disk, then leave.   And he sends that out.   So unless the US govt manufactured diplomatic cables, they are probably going to be authentic until someone makes any type of accusation.

Tentatively, I suppose it is prudent enough to cautiously accept the veracity of of the Wikileak claims [for the time being].

Indeed.  It is not unreasonable speculation to strongly consider that the "lone soldier" did not work alone, or was allowed to be a "useful idiot" for others.  Questions to be asked:  Who profits from this? -- People/governments who want to control the internet?

I don't expect there would be major discoveries withing these documents which are internal American wires discussing Israel. Israelis are already the leaking champions of the  world.
