Two years after President Barack Obama was sworn into office, Americans appear to be split on his job performance thus far.

A CNN/Opinion Research Poll, which was conducted between Jan. 14 and 16, reveals that 48 percent of respondents described Obama's presidency as a failure.

Approximately 45 percent of Americans said that it was a success. The results are similar to last year's poll, when 48 percent deemed Obama's first year a failure, and 47 percent called it a success.

CNN Polling Director Keating Holland said that, in terms of Obama's approval numbers, the generation gap preceding the 2008 presidential election continues to surface more than two years later. He said that most Americans who are 50 years old or older agreed that Obama has been a failure, while a large number of young people held the opposite view.

Furthermore, the poll showed a significant racial gap. A total of 59 percent of white respondents said that the commander-in-chief has underperformed, while approximately 72 percent of non-white Americans deemed his presidency a success.

According to USA Today, the President has a strong critic in the Ultimate Fighting Championship circuit. Jacob Volkmann, a mixed martial artist and a licensed chiropractor, is not a fan of the Obama or his healthcare reform law.

"He's not too bright," Volkmann said after winning a recent bout, quoted by the news provider. "Someone needs to knock some sense into that idiot."
