Secularbeliever:
Shalom Chaim
I wanted to follow up your response to the question last week about Jackie Robinson. You start by the saying the guy was okay but that he opened the door to bad things. I had trouble following your logic. The guy developed and used his G-d given talent and competed successfully and honestly against White people (and other Black athletes). He was not wrong to have done so. The people who would have deprived him of the opportunity, solely on the basis of race, were the ones who were wrong. What should he have done, in your opinion, that would have earned your approval? Should he have not played in the major leagues? Should he have given in to White racists who objected to Blacks playing in the major leagues?
I don't blame him for the fact that many Black people have blown the opportunities that men like Robinson won. He did not encourage the rap culture. He competed without any privilage, in fact overcame obstacles. If a Black guy does well I don't think he should be criticized for the negative aspects of Black culture. I believe, and I think you do also, that people have the right to be judged as individuals, not condemned for things that other members of their ethnicity do.
Maimonides:
Shalom Chaim and Thank you as always for your hard work and for answering my questions.
In the past you have stated that you knew that Al-Qaeda would come back to destroy the Twin Towers, because a bomber will keep trying to destroy a target that they have previously failed to destroy. Do you believe that Al-Qaeda will try to hit the Pentagon again, because it was not fully destroyed on 9/11? Why do you believe that Al-Qaeda for the past decade has not been able to carry out a massive attack on America?
imaknick:
I know Jews are allowed to hunt for food, but are we allowed to hunt for Ivory, fur, and skin?
Trace:
Shalom Chaim,
The thuggish behavior and pompous grandstanding of current professional sports, particularly basketball and football, annoys me greatly. If you or a government that embodied your values were in charge of America, would professional sports leagues be abolished on the grounds of being a waste of money and time? I feel like too many people are absorbed in watching televised sports, and the players also make way too much money. Too many of them are rap-loving thugs who live immoral lifestyles, as well, despite all the money they make. Something must be done. On the other hand, sports are part of American culture and are an important source of bonding for people. What would you do to improve this situation?
Gam Bashan veGam Gilad:
Hello Dear Chaim, (:
Do you believe a Kahanist government in Israel could bring about a kind of a new common denominator and consensus between the National-Religious and the Charedi Jews?
Thank you as always, and Shavu'a Tov!
.אני אוהב אותך מאד-מאד :)
Gam Bashan veGam Gil'ad.
