Huckabee leads in poll of 11 Southern states
« on: March 02, 2011, 03:49:28 AM »
בס''ד

Mike Huckabee swamps the competition in the South, according to a new poll.

Huckabee commands 22 percent of the probable Republican primary voters in 11 states across the region, according to the Winthrop survey released early Wednesday morning. The former Arkansas governor nearly doubles up on his chief competition in the states polled. Newt Gingrich finishes second with 13 percent of the southern vote.

Unfortunately, Huckabee has the same problem as JTF: lack of money. Hopefully, he can overcome that problem, G-d willing.

This is fair news. In 2008 he did very well in the South also. He also won Iowa. The problem will be New Hampshire again. The media will try to build up whoever wins that one. Huckabee needs to do well in the East and Michigan. That is not going to be easy. The article did not say if Florida was one of the 11 southern states polled. I assume it was. I would like to know if he is specifically ahead in Florida. That would be very good news since he did not win FL last time.
I can see a situation where Huckabee gets a lot of delegates and the party will appear to be split although Romney will win. It will force Romney to "unite the party" at the convention by selecting Huckabee as his VP and by taking firmer stands on abortion and other strong Huckabee issues.

Yes, if he had the same financial backing as the other candidates, he would certainly have no problem.  Also, the media is starting to try and give him the 'kook' label, since they are starting to see him as a threat  Huckabee had mentioned Obama's upbringing in Kenya as warping his world view, when he was actually brought up in Indonesia... and the media labeled him a crazed delusional conspiracy wacko, etc etc.

We can't underestimate the media's abillity to sway voters.  Hillary was way ahead of Obama, until the media started focusing all their attention on Obama, and calling him 'the one' or the 'rock star' etc etc.
