A Rally NYC JTF'ers Might Be Interested In
« on: March 01, 2011, 08:42:51 PM »
I got this by email.  It takes place in the afternoon on Sunday March 6, which is the night we're having our regular JTF meeting.  Here are the details:

Sunday, March 6th, 1:30pm, Times Square, NYC
[/b][/color]

This Sunday, March 6th, the Ground Zero Mosque’s Imam Rauf, Daisy Khan, Imam Shamsi Ali and their pals are holding a "Today I am a Muslim, Too" Rally against “Islamophobia,” singling out Congressman Peter King and his upcoming Homeland Security Hearings.

We, too, will be out there to send these folks a message:

WE SUPPORT PETER KING, HIS HEARINGS AND WANT THEM TO GO FORWARD.

Imam Rauf, Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow

·     I am not “a Muslim, too”, I have my own faith and I don’t plan to change it!

·     We support Peter King’s hearings and efforts to protect the civil and human rights, and the homeland security, of Americans of all faiths.

·     Americans are not “denying” Muslims’ civil rights and you can stop trying to make yourselves into “victims” of “Islamophobia”

·     What about our civil rights – we have a civil right

        -- to be protected!

·     We don’t want to live under Shariah Islamic law, and, America is not, as Imam Rauf has claimed, “Shariah Compliant”

·     Americans are not fooled by your propaganda that we are “anxious,” “Islamophobic,” “bigoted” and “ignorant”

·     We will defend our Constitution from your Shariah law, and are proud to be Americans!

PRESS CONFERENCE and Counter-presence

Sunday, March 6th, 1:30pm, Times Square, NYC

For further details go to http://libertyrocks.org/

Endorsed by Liberty Alliance , the Coalition to Honor Ground Zero, Liberty Rocks, Human Rights Coalition Against Radical Islam, Indian American Intellectuals Forum, Blue Collar Corner, Women United International, and many other organizations.

·         Let us know by return email if you would like to add your name to the list of endorsers of our event.

·         Below is the notice of their anti-King rally.

·         Imam Shamsi Ali of the 96th St Mosque has called King's hearings "discriminatory".

·         If Imam Rauf, Shamsi Ali and their pals truly cared about national security, they would be supporting King's hearings to learn about radicals in American Muslim communities!

Lisa,   thanks for bringing this event to out attention.      I'm thinking seriously about attending Sunday Afternoon's rally in support of Peter King.

Recently,    there was a rally in support of Peter King near his office in Massapequa to counter the rally against him.     I didn't find out about that rally until after it took place.

Interesting  ( and not surprisingly ),     Rabbi Marc Schneier is on the opposing side.    That in itself is plenty of motivation to come out in support of Peter King:

Scheduled to speak at the rally thus far are: Russell Simmons, Rabbi Marc Schneier (FFEU), Imam Shamsi Ali (Islamic Cultural Center), Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf (Cordoba Initiative), Rev. Bob Chase (Intersections), Rabbi Peter J. Rubinstein (Central Synagogue), Katherine Henderson (Auburn Theological Seminary), Rev. Chloe Breyer (Interfaith Center of New York), Bawa Jain (The Millennium World Peace Summit of Religious and Spiritual Leaders, United Nations), Rev. Amandus J. Derr (St. Peter's Church), and many other religious, community, and political leaders.  There will also be a performance by Junoon’s UN goodwill ambassador, Salman Ahmad.

I'm looking forward to the Atlas Shrugs rally at ground zero this year on September 11th. This year I can bring a sign because it won't be on Shabbat. They might even be able to use a real rabbi for the opening prayers this time. It would be awesome if we could find a way to get them to let Chaim speak.
Does it bother you that you have to face the dome and the rock to say the sh'ma?

Excellent commentary by Stuart Kaufman at the previous rally:

Thanks,   mord.

At the March 6 rally,    Rabbi Spero didn't speak.    However,   Beth Gilinsky,   who works closely with Rabbi Spero,   did speak.

Unfortunately,   the rain likely kept the crowd down.     There was probably around 100 people at the Support Peter King Rally.    At absolute most 150 people.     While sometimes the media lies about the size of crowds in favor of Liberals and Muslims,    this time around the report of around 300 people being at the hideous,   " Today,   I am a Muslim,  Too"  rally,    was true.        Part of why this occurred was the Support Peter King Rally was 4 blocks away  ( at 38th and 7th ) from the Anti-Peter King Rally.      The latter was in Times Square,   which is a prime traffic area.         It's outrageous that the city (  thanks to Michael Bloomberg )  kept the Pro- Peter King supporters this far from the Anti-Peter King supporters.      When a few of us went near the Anti-Peter King rally after our rally ended,    the police moved us along after one of the woman in our group started shouting something along the lines of 'No Sharia in America'!      Free speech no longer exists in NYC for those who have a differing viewpoint from Liberalism!
