About the only reason the factories in China producing electronics seem to be paying their people better is most likely due to the fact that they are to some extent skilled labor... Let the unemployment rates get a bit higher here in the States and remain there for a while and see if Uncle Sam doesn't set up a few work camps right here in the United States for the long term unskilled unemployed... The worse part of the picture is the fact that a good deal of this garbage produced in China and  brought into the united States is toxic and unsafe to have around... Despite many stories of lead poisoning and toxic products nothing has been done to stop products like this from being imported... Sadly even if people are willing to buy better in an attempt to avoid unsafe products from China they will find that some day to day products are no longer even produced here in the United States... The few companies that were clinging on could no longer compete with China's substandard products and slave labor market.

Wide presence of chinese slave labor market was well known since many years. But due to many political and business bonds and considerations like MFN, they were never to be exposed or emphasised earlier.
