Man Killed By Tractor Driven By Son In Construction Accident

A forty-five year old man was crushed to death on Wednesday by a tractor driven by his son at a construction at the train station in Be'er Yaakov.

Magen David Adom medics responding to the scene declared the man dead.

According to reports, the tractor driver climbed up a hill with a small tractor, but the engine stalled and the driver was unable to stop the tractor from sliding back down the slope. The reason for the engine shut down has not been determined at this time.

During the tractor's sudden reverse of direction the driver's father, at the bottom of the slope, was struck and killed by the tractor. The son raced to call for help, and the responding MDA team arrived quickly and began CPR, but the father's injuries were too severe and they declared him dead at the scene.

Police investigators from the Ramla station conducted an accident investigation and took statements from employees at the site. Chief Superintendent Shlomi Sagi confirmed the tractor engine shut down causing the loss of momentum and backward slide resulting in the victim's death.

The cause of the engine failure is still under investigation.
