Make sure you have enough food and water for your family for at least a week's time and dont' forget the pet food either. Have flash lights and batteries ready and a radio that doesn't need to be plugged in.

Before the storm hits clear away branches or other debris in your yard and bring in anything that could blow away and make sure you have any outside animals inside where it's safer.

When the storm is over don't let children play in storm water, it's likely to have sewage, dangerous chemicals, or even venomous snakes or floating mats of ants.
