A further indication that there is no middle ground on this issue. If you start legally tolerating these abominations you will eventually have the government participating in the abominations and they will eventually try to impose their immoral views on those that disagree.
That is to say a chaplain in the military will some day in the future will likely be persecuted if he refuses to officiate at one on these weddings.
I stress, I don't know if this is or is not the case today, but it certainly going in that direction.
