Why is there no death penalty in Israel? Is it for religious reasons or simply insane leftist pro-muslim policy?

Not for religious reasons of course. The Israeli civil law abolished the death penalty after our independence with the exception for Nazis. But technically a court martial (which is where terrorists are usually tried) has the option to give the death sentence although it seems not to actually carry it out. Every time a death sentence was sentenced it was commuted by the president to "life in prison". And for almost 20 years now the persecution has not even asked for the death penalty.

Chorev Rebbe Also Fired at Tractor Terrorist

gun.jpgIt has been learned that in addition to the taxi driver, a Ram (Rosh Mesivta) at Jerusalem’s Chorev Yeshiva also fired at the tractor terrorist who last Thursday attacked at Golomb Junction.

The rebbe fired from a distance of about 4 meters, striking the terrorist in his head. YWN Israel spoke with a source at Chorev, who confirmed the report, revealing the name of the rebbe, which will not be published for his own protection.

The rebbe left immediately, prior to the arrival of the media, but he was seen on the security video, revealing his identity to security officials.

When has any Arab ever been given a death sentence by Israel?

Until the early 90s some terrorists were sentenced to death without actually being killed of course. I think the last one was a terrorist who bombed a bus (with a planted bomb, not a human bomb) circa 1993. I may be wrong that he was actually sentenced to death but the persecution requested the death penalty (which they no longer do since then).

The only execution in Israel due to court martial was during the war of independence. A Jew, Meir Tobianski, who was suspected of espionage, was tried by a drumhead court martial and was summarily murdered. He was later acquitted,  but the senior haganah thugs who murdered him were never punished not even discharged from the army (and quite expectedly, they were subsequently involved in some other high profile fiascoes).
