No Kahane memorial this year?
« on: November 13, 2011, 09:36:43 PM »
Last year was RMK's 20th yahrzeit and there was a large turnout at Har Hamenuchos and a hotel event and meat meal afterwards.

But this year there seems to be no adverts and there may be hardly a turnout. No one seems to be in the know/care any more.

I suspect that in the absence of a speaking firebrand or successor to RMK and BZK, like Chayim, Kahanism in Israel as we have known it has run its course. That's how things usually fade away 20 years after the death of a leader if he's not replaced cf. in 2014 it will have been 20 years since the Lubavitcher Rebbe passed on, and Lubavitch as we have known it will also start to fade away.

I do not agree... There are signs of Kahanism all over if you look for it.

The memory of the Great Tzadik will never be forgotten from amongst the religious zionist nor the average Orthodox Jew.
You shall make yourself the Festival of Sukkoth for seven days, when you gather in [the produce] from your threshing floor and your vat.And you shall rejoice in your Festival-you, and your son, and your daughter, and your manservant, and your maidservant, and the Levite, and the stranger, and the orphan, and the widow, who are within your cities
Duet 16:13-14

The only Kahanist of note alive is Chayim Ben Pesach. Who else is there: Guzofsky?!

No leaders are appearing in the Haredi world. Without Chayim, who is more of a firebrand than a leader, Kahanism in the world would be totally moribund. Without a young leader, another Hitkatnut will break the spirit of even the Hill Top Youth. We hope Hashem will send the Tzemach David soon, lest a precipitate yeridah be in the offing.
