Dear Chaim,First I want to stress that I am not saying you have a wrong interpretation of Rabbi Kahane. But to judge the other side for the benefit of the doubt, you could argue that the governments we are facing today, both in the USA and in Israel are worse than the governments of 20 or 30 years ago and therefore there should be a change of tactics.Always remember that sometimes scholars can have a legitimate disagreement about halacha, without personally attacking their opponents. This happens quite frequently in the Talmud.
If he does not have the courage to tell the truth, no problem. But no one is forcing him to lie and distort. If he doesn't have the guts to tell the truth, he should say nothing.
