Knesset Committee Passes Nazi Symbol Bill
A Knesset committee has passed a bill to fine perpetrators NIS 100,000 if they use as a slur any Holocaust symbol or calls anyone a "Nazi."

A Knesset ministerial committee has passed a bill imposing a fine of NIS 100,000 on perpetrators who use as a slur any Holocaust symbol or calls anyone a "Nazi."

The measure was proposed by National Union Knesset Member Uri Ariel after a demonstration by hareidi religious protesters who pinned yellow stars on the chest of their young sons in Shabbat Square in the Jerusalem neighborhood of Mea Shearim.

Some of the protesters also dressed in clothes resembling those of the uniforms once worn by concentration camp inmates.

The use of Holocaust and Nazi imagery has become more and more common in recent years, both by hareidi religious demonstrators and by secular and Arab protesters as well.

MK Ariel noted that the bill he proposed does not specify whether the perpetrator has any particular affiliation or identity; rather, he said, he is targeting the behavior of those who cynically use the imagery of the Holocaust for their own purposes.

“I am happy that the government supports this important law," Ariel said.

"Unfortunately we have been witness in recent years to the use of symbols of the Holocaust and use of the term 'Nazi' in political discourse. These actions and expressions hurt the feelings of Holocaust survivors, their families, and many other people in Israel.”

Tel Aviv-Yafo (Jaffa) Chief Rabbi Yisrael Meir Lau made a similar statement recently as well, urging the government to pass the law and emphasizing the importance of enforcing it once it is passed

Ummm. so does this mean we can no longer legally refer to the arabs as arab nazi terrorists in the videos?

The 'legal system' in Israel is quickly becoming more and more like the communist system from which it was modeled. There is no freedom of speech unless you are a leftist. You can be detained and thrown in jail for a long time due to 'administrative detentions' where they don't even need any evidence... You can be jailed for calling a woman a 'prostitute'... Etc. Etc...

Israel is heading for self destruction...

You shall make yourself the Festival of Sukkoth for seven days, when you gather in [the produce] from your threshing floor and your vat.And you shall rejoice in your Festival-you, and your son, and your daughter, and your manservant, and your maidservant, and the Levite, and the stranger, and the orphan, and the widow, who are within your cities
Duet 16:13-14
