It's fine to 'break the glass ceiling' if it means considering qualified women that wouldn't have been considered before simply based on their being female, but what he did sounds more like affirmative action to me. Rather than specifically seeking to promote women he should have looked for the best person and not worried about whether they happened to be male or female.

This actually makes me view Newt in a worse light because I'm completely against affirmative action.
