You shall make yourself the Festival of Sukkoth for seven days, when you gather in [the produce] from your threshing floor and your vat.And you shall rejoice in your Festival-you, and your son, and your daughter, and your manservant, and your maidservant, and the Levite, and the stranger, and the orphan, and the widow, who are within your cities

Ezekiel 33:6 But if the watchman see the sword come, and blow not the horn, and the people be not warned, and the sword do come, and take any person from among them, he is taken away in his iniquity, but his blood will I require at the watchman's hand.

I just whipped this little video montage together for Saul Kayes new album 'Jewish Blues - Volume III'...

I used the video editor OpenShot which is free for Linux...

I didn't realize it till after Shavuot ended but Saul Kaye just played at my local 'progressive' shul over the weekend. If I wasn't so observant I could have gone and seen him... But I still like his music...

Shavuah Tov, I hope everyones Shabbat or weekend has been enlightening.

As I mentioned in the Parasha thread I posted last week, one of the aspects of last weeks Parasha was the 'Priestly Blessing' or Birkat Kohanim.

Here are some nice renditions of this vital prayer which Jews say every Shabbat in the Amidah repetition and during Yom Tovim...

May G‑d bless you and guard you.
'May G‑d shine His countenance upon you and be gracious to you.
'May G‑d turn His countenance toward you and grant you peace.'" (Numbers 6:24-26)

The Hebrew words are:

Yivarechecha
Adonai
viyishmirecha

Ya'er
Adonai
panav
elecha
veechuneka

Yeesa
Adonai
panav
elecha
viyasem
lecha
shalom

Very nice Tag, I like Medad also...

Here are some Shomi Gertner tunes:

Another one from the morning davening "Nismat Kol Chai".

Baruch Shamor...

Quote
Blessed is He Who spoke, and the world came into being - blessed is He.
Blessed is He Who maintains creation;
blessed is He Who speaks and does;
blessed is He Who decrees and fulfills;
blessed is He Who has mercy on the earth;
blessed is He Who has mercy on the creatures;
blessed is He Who gives goodly reward for those who fear Him;
blessed is He Who lives forever and endures to eternity;
blessed is He Who redeems and rescues - blessed is His Name!
Blessed are You, Hashem, our G-d, King of the universe,
the G-d the merciful father, Who is lauded by the mouth of His people,
praised and glorified by the tongue of His devout ones and His servants
and through the psalms of David Your servant.
We shall laud You, Hashem, our G-d, with praises and songs.
We shall exalt You, praise You, glorify You, mention Your Name
and proclaim Your reign, our King, our G-d.
O Unique One, Life-giver of the worlds,
King Whose great name is eternally praised and glorified.
Blessed are You, Hashem, the King Who is lauded with praises.

Nisim (Miracles/Signs)

You shall make yourself the Festival of Sukkoth for seven days, when you gather in [the produce] from your threshing floor and your vat.And you shall rejoice in your Festival-you, and your son, and your daughter, and your manservant, and your maidservant, and the Levite, and the stranger, and the orphan, and the widow, who are within your cities

This prayer we say after Aleinu Mussaf...

Do not fear sudden terror, nor the destruction of the wicked when it comes. Contrive a scheme, but it will be foiled; conspire a plot, but it will not materialize, for G-d is with us. To your old age I am [with you]; to your hoary years I will sustain you; I have made you, and I will carry you; I will sustain you and deliver you. Indeed, the righteous will extol Your Name; the upright will dwell securely in Your presence.
