Count-Up to Matan Torah : Shavuot is Saturday night

This Saturday is the Jewish celebration of Shavuot. This is the day which we received the Torah at Mount Sinai. It is the culmination of the 49 day count which we started after the 1st night of Pesach a bit over a month ago. It is a day which has no special mention in the Torah nor does it have any commandments which pertain to it.
It is a day during which we devote ourselves to learning and teaching Torah. It is a custom to stay up all night learning all different things from the Tanakh, the Talmud, and other Jewish holy writings. One reasons, it is explained, that we stay up all night learning Torah is to make up for the big mistake of the Jews at Mount Sinai who almost slept through the giving of the Torah that day.
